That's gotta be one of the most ambitious undertakings in a series that I've ever seen.
I'm a bit worried to see what gets axed, though. EDIT: Oh man...looks like most/all post-Return of the Jedi stuff is getting the non-canon stamp and being termed as "Star Wars: Legends."
It's a bit hazy right now. Episodes 1-6 and The Clone Wars TV series are considered absolute canon--they're the foundation, but if you'd seen The Lost Missions episodes you'd noticed Darth Bane is directly credited there. It'd seem like a huge oversight if that didn't stay.
Since Episode VII-IX are Post-Return of the Jedi, all that old stuff (Kyle Katarn, Thrawn Trilogy, etc.) are getting the axe. I don't think stuff chronologically before that (Darth Bane, KOTOR, etc.) will meet the same fate.
