They knew that when they Jasper was speared and now we know what's out there. At the end of The 100 Season 1 Episode 2, we got a glimpse of the creature. Is it an evolved human or something else? It was difficult to tell under the mask.
For now, it's a threat.

I tried to give the show a chance but I have to say that I'm not impressed or seeing anything that makes me want to continue watching. I don't know that it will make it. The CW has a pretty good record and it does cater to the younger crowd so it has a good chance but I say that I would be surprised if it does.
