"This “Jekyll & Hyde” blend never ceases throughout the 145 minutes of Marvel’s latest anime foray alongside Mad House. During the opening sequence in Seattle, Punisher stomps a baddie’s head into the pavement and Black Widow argues morality with him. This begs the question as to why Marvel needs the Punisher to be personable? On the one hand, Black Widow’s brand of justice follows S.H.I.E.L.D. guidelines, so she wants evil-doers behind bars. On the other hand, Punisher likes bars as well, but he’d rather stick the bars through the heads of whoever pisses him off. This includes Nick Fury (voiced by John Eric Bentley), Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and all under his employ. As a result, Fury gives Frank Castle a choice.
