Sometimes you have to go out of your way to find inspiration. But other times, inspiration finds you — as with director Scott Cooper's latest film, Out of the Furnace. The film is a contemporary exploration of the cyclical nature of violence, set against the backdrop of moral and economic decline in the small mining community of Braddock, Pennsylvania. And though it may paint a grim portrait of small town life in America's Heartland, its story of brotherhood and the bonds of family is powerful, compelling and poignant.
