Junkie Monkeys: Last night Matthew McConaughey shined brightly as he won the Oscar for Best Actor in Dallas Buyers Club. McConaughey’s win meant that once again, Leonardo DiCaprio went home Oscar-less. While many debate whether the 39 year old actor was robbed, let’s try to look at this whole situation logically for a moment.
Shaz from FL writes: “The Academy Awards are just around the corner, and if recent shows are any indication, Oppenheimer will be taking its biggest prize. But should it?”
These are the best actor performances from Martin Scorsese films. Scorsese's masterful movies always feature magnificent performances
Killers of the Flower Moon trailer brings Scorsese, DiCaprio and De Niro together for a 20th century true crime tale.
I don't think he was robbed. I think its bad luck. The roles he has been nominated for have been pretty weak in my opinion. Departed would have made a great nomination and he probably would have won. I really enjoyed Wolf of Wall Street however McConaughey did do a fantastic bit of work. Gangs of new york would have been another great one if he was nominated.
I feel for him but if I am honest. I feel that he has only started to do worthy films since 2002 when he done Gangs of New York. Before then I felt that he done "boy" rolls and after Gangs he done roles for men which made him a more enjoyable actor to watch.
In my view his good films are Gangs of New York, Catch Me If You Can, The Departed, Blood Diamond, Shutter Island, Inception, J. Edgar, Django Unchained and The Wolf of Wall Street. All the roles in those films were really good I thought.
He needs to sort his projects out and work on some award winning roles such as the film Devil in the White City which would be really good.
Since when did it become Leo's god given right to win an Oscar? Personally I don't much care for his acting, he comes off as a little too man-childish for me. He did give impressive performances in films like Shutter Island and The Aviator, but I don't buy him for a second as a badass undercover detective in The Departed. That being said his performance in TWOWS was great, he pretty much carried the whole movie, but it wasn't head over heels better than all the other nominees.
Blood Diamond an "ok" movie?! wow!
leonardo di caprio is to the movie industry what cristiano ronaldo is to football.
no matter how hard they work and prove more than ever they are the best, the votes say differently and they just have to accept it and try harder.
