Terry Gilliam on Don Quixote: "But once you’re hooked, once the obsession is there, once the self-flagellation has taken over. It’s kind of out of spite that I’m doing it, to spite all the people saying ‘you’re stupid, give it up man!’ The most difficult thing about maintaining this obsession is that I can only disappoint a lot of people. The trailer has been running as Lost in La Mancha for 15 years! None of that will be in the film, none of those scenes"
Terry Gilliam: "To me it’s a far more profound ending because it allows the audience to make their own version of what that means."
Title's kind of deceptive in thinking he believes that for all happy endings, just the one in this film.
