I can't wait for the reboot of the reboot in a couple years

They could use someone else for the thing someone who's actually physically strong xD but whatever.

Why is the human torch black? He is white

I'm really just upset with the chosen director. He only has 1 notable movie under his belt (Chronicle) and he's casting actors he's already worked with, instead of casting accurate representations of the characters. He shouldn't even be allowed to make an adaption of anything yet. He's a rookie director and he's quickly going to become a hack if he keeps making choices like this.

The entire cast is a group of talent actors. It's just a shame they're being cast in a crappy movie, for Fox can keep the rights to The Fantastic Four.

In short, blame the director for all the inconsistencies and Fox for desperately clinging to a comic-book license they don't know how to handle properly.

Would people complain if Tom Hanks was cast as Nelson Mandela? Oh, that's different? Because, what... Nelson Mandela was real and wasn't white? That's strange, because Johnny Storm is a real creation and has never at any time been black.

"But Nick Fury was played by Sam Jackson so..." So? So what? If you actually picked up a comic once in a while you would understand why this is an accurate portrayal of Nick Fury.

The people complaining about it are not doing so as a racial thing. The people complaining are fans. Sure you all say "fanboys complaining blah blah blah". These so called "fanboys" have been the ones supporting and purchasing Fantastic Four comics for decades, while you have seen a couple of movies.

The point is this. You're all defending this change but if it were a white person portraying a black person the whole world would cry foul. Double standards.

Not going to lie when I saw the black guy I scratched my head wondering if he was the villain and I read the article wrong...lol that's an odd choice...

I don't care that they made Johnny black but they should have made Susan black as well if they were gonna do that. The fact that they're siblings affects their relationship quite strongly since it throws family into the mix.

I would pay good money to see Tom Hanks play MLK! That could possibly be the funniest movie of all time! Maybe they should have cast Kirk Lazarus to play the human torch? Everyone would be happy at that point!

Horrible casting, especially Ben Grimm. I see people are already showing feigned indignation to the reaction to black Johnny Storm. We get it, your not a racist, feel better now?

Michael B Jordan and Kate Mara are genuinely good actors i feel disappointed about the fact that their talents might possibly be wasted in this kind of risky move to reboot fantastic four. the other two actors playing the thing and mr fantastic also does not look like a good choice in terms of appearance, i do not know them both as actors so i cannot say if their acting would do justice but just by looking at the photo i feel they are also wrong choices.

i actually think jordan might do good in the role but at the end of the day every fan of fantastic four including myself deep down inside would always say he did ok but the character was suppose to be white. i do not understand why they is it pointed towards racism when the only thing fans like is for the franchise to stick with the original concept which made it famous in the first place. no need of comparing if a white guy is played by a black guy or vice versa because that is just a pointless argument.

there are even some arguments that the connection of invisible woman and human torch are adopted siblings would be a very wrong move just like ninja turtles being alien turtles. the brother-sister relation between sue and johnny storm is integral to the storyline, any other scenario would defeat that purpose and would make it feel significantly lesser.

at the end of the day i think whatever happens people are going to watch it anyway but the real catch is that if this film fails to deliver that would be it, because having a bad movie being rebooted which also turned out to be bad would likely kill off the franchise or make it a joke.

I thought Johnny & Susan Storm were brother & sister? Another movie verse perhaps. Why not, practically every main charactor had to be reinvented in a comicbook movie anyway, Spiderman Xmen Ironman Batman Superman. And then we have the reboots of the reboot - Batman
