At this point, I don't care what he's doing and would really like everyone to move on from it. He wants the attention and we all keep giving it over to him.

Agreed, the guy HAD his 15 minutes of fame and is doing everything he can to get another 15 minutes.

Why do people still hire him?

Because of that one part from that movie about...something.

Sad part is he is an ok actor. But he's digging his own grave more and more by doing all of this random, outlandish stuff.

I think a lot of it is him trying to distance himself form the Transformers Shia we know (although I don't think anyone cared either way). At least Phoenix was able to make a successful comeback....I don't think it's Shia's time yet.

he is not pulling a joaguin phoenix, he just got stuck in a quicksand wherein his actions only make his downfall faster. he is a potentially good actor but he is nowhere near joaquin phoenix in terms of acting range, so if you compare them in how they can go back in top form, phoenix is likely to do the transition better obviously since he crawled back into making significant films lately, shia on the other hand has a more cloudy future at the time being.
