Paramount Makes Exception to All-Digital Policy for Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’

Paramount made waves earlier this month when they announced that they would no longer release movies on film, becoming the first major studio to go all-digital. Except, it turns out, they’re not quite going all-digital. The company still plans to make rare exceptions for select pictures, including Christopher Nolan‘s Interstellar.

All of his Batman films and Inception and made at least a billion so yeah, he pretty much gets free reign. Personally I prefer movies shot on film, Michael Mann is one of the few directors I'll make an exception for. I'm also glad Abrams is filming the new Star Wars on film as well.

I don't see why any studio would want to be so limiting regarding this anyways. It should be a choice left up to the creative team (I think typically it's just the director that makes the call).

On that I have to totally and completely agree. Why not give the actual filmmakers the choice on what they want to work with. Not doing so is limiting and could cause them to jump ship.
