It may have opened with a little less than expected in North America, but The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is still bringing in the big bucks overseas! It so far has an international total of over $131 million, giving the Peter Jackson helmed sequel a cume of $205 million.

No, it's not. I went to see it yesterday and it was a huge flop for me. I liked the first Hobbit movie a lot, but this was flat out boring most of the time.

I have not seen it but $$$ does not equal quality. The recent steaming loads such as Transformers 2 and Avatard come to mind.

I am anxious to see this however I like the style and fantastical visuals.

Holiday ticket sales aren't usually a good indicator if a film is good or not. People are going to see movies during holidays... this just happened to be the obvious choice this weekend. I'm not saying its bad... I'm just saying don't use ticket sales as a metric.
