The Sequel would have a very different feel to it since Speaker for the Dead felt like a completely different book, not that I would mind seeing it at all but they only have 2 options.
Make the very different Speaker for the Dead or make up their own story to fill the very very very large gap in the timeline.
As for the changes, I'm fine with them calling the aliens Formics as opposed to Buggers. Buggers made me think every1 was talking like a Brit or a pirate while reading the book. It just didn't feel like a word that American characters would use frequently.
