Clone Wars got the axe simply as they did not control it. Cartoon Network had some say and they did not want to share it. There was talk it would move to Disney after their deal with Cartoon Network expired, but hey, why share money until then when you can cut them off, get the money for the unaired episodes and then start anew.
And what about the produced episodes of season six? Shame that those may never be officially released. Unofficially even.
