The Red Band Trailer for Oldboy is Here

CS

Following the poster earlier this week, FilmDistrict has revealed the Red Band trailer for Oldboy. Check it out below!

Oldboy is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.

Serious? Did hollywood run out of juice that bad to remake this?

Tr10wn3939d ago

remakes are pretty common these days, Evil Dead for example is a good remake and this looks to be the case, the trailer was good.

Evil Dead had a good remake, but this trailer, definetly does not look good.

Have you see Park´s "Oldeuboi"? The original? It is a brilliant masterpiece, and among the best films of all time, easily.

While, I´m not saying this remake will be bad, remaking such an Asian classic, for western audiences is so wrong, they will butcher yet another classic in a remake.

"the trailer was good"

This is a joke, right?

"Have you see Park´s "Oldeuboi"? The original? It is a brilliant masterpiece, and among the best films of all time, easily."

Truer words never been said. Oh and Spike Lee is a hack that will butcher the movie. I'm pretty sure the most obvious hit will be with the cinematography and music.

@Blacktric

I've seen the original, Blacktric. This looks Okay, it looks like they wanted to adapt it more than reimagine it and that's good, because "a reimagining" is usually a disaster, I've seen it several times, btw. Old Boy is one of my fav Korean flicks ever. Wish he would have kept the big hair though, cause oldboy was a beautiful brunette lion.

My only concern is if they will keep the ending in tact because of how controversial it could be in this pansey country. (USA)

i hope this film will be good, i do not think it will be better than the original. only few international movies are done properly by hollywood among them are; the ring, let me in and girl w/ the dragon tattoo. all of those three were tricky to execute. based on the trailer the tone of the film looks descently comparable to the original but it is early to determine if josh brolin can hold his character well because the original oldboy had good performances. about the "ending" i think they will follow the original premise but add something new so it wont be a straightforward copied scenario. i will probably watch the film but not expect too much.
