Vicki Dolley writes: "Not in a long time has a horror film created so much discussion. James DeMonaco’s thriller The Purge presents a brutal reality in which there is legalisation of any crime (and the suspension of emergency services) for an annual 12-hour period to allow American citizens the ability to release their stress and anger onto their neighbours, bosses or even strangers – a wilder, extreme parallel to the ongoing real-life debate regarding the legalisation of drugs to prevent violent crime. The Purge supposedly contributes to America’s idyllic status in 2022 of suffering virtually no crime during the rest of the year, experiencing a flourishing economy and an unemployment rate of only 1%. Enter middle-class American family the Sandins, who become prey on Purge night when they shelter an innocent, targeted man."
With the new The Crow remake coming soon, we take a look back at the 30-year-old cult classic original–and where the stars are now.
Kaam Chalu Hai Review: Based on true events, this movie is thought-provoking and inspiring
Rebel Moon Part 2 Review: This movie doesn't feel anything new or worth remembering, which is a shame.
