Daniel of PopCults.com writes "The movie is well-made and it’s an interesting enough little story. Its biggest problem is that it never really justifies its own existence. In a lot of ways it feels like a genre pic without a genre. There’s some gore and some fighting, but not really enough to satisfy action or horror fans, and the plot takes over to such a degree that people interesting in the historical setting aren’t likely to find much to grab onto."
