When watching one of the trailers that are still airing on television one asks themselves the question, who is “Mama” and what does she look like? At the end of the film you’ll know her twisted face very well but honestly you still don’t care much for who she is or her motivations. The story defeats the purpose of establishing her as a mysterious character. Even With her creepy apparition haunting Lucas and Annibel or serving as the mother figure for Lilly and Victoria - Mama comes off as a poorly conceived way to throw a fully made up Javier Botet at you from darkened corners of the room. That skinny dude still managed to scare the bejesus out of me.
