It has been exactly five years since the world lost actor Heath Ledger. We are going to look at a few of his best known films.
Few performances are as memorable as Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight, a role which earned him a Best Supporting Oscar. While he might have drawn inspiration from other dark places too, this one particular 1979 interview (on the Australian talk show The Don Lane Show) must have been high on his list of influences.
While some actors are natural choices for some roles, others needed some convincing with the audience. Daniel Craig, for one, was not the most popular choice as James Bond when he was cast. But he did such a brilliant job that he is leaving a legacy that’s hard to follow. With him, here is a list of actors who were unlikely choices for iconic roles but turned in stellar performances.
The new Joker movie has a scene which references an old Heath Ledger interview during the press tour for The Dark Knight.
Legend
He's the only celebrity whose death actually moved me a little.
I still consider his Joker role to be the best acting I have ever seen. RIP.
I am disappointed that they threw away the joker character in Rises. I simply don't think they need to do that every time some one passes on (or when they can't get an actor to return). Joker in the Dark Knight series had proven his point (unlike the source material of the concept, Killing Joke)....that BEGGED for him to be a part of the uprising.
Sigh.....well, whatreya gonna do?
That joker role has to be in my top 5 proformences of all time.
