IGN: Director Peter Jackson's fourth trip to Middle-earth can't quite recapture the greatness, emotional impact or charm of his Lord of the Rings trilogy, but there's nevertheless much to enjoy about The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Whilst I can understand his problems with the second, Frodo is there for a very good reason - he serves as a connection from the original trilogy to the Hobbit, and brings fans of The Lord of the Rings right back into Middle Earth.
i never knew IGN reviewed films and so i was intrigued. at least they are consistently incompetent at journalism across-the-board.
anyhow, i knew people who were expecting the hobbit to be like LOTR were going to be disappointed as it is more about the story than full scale battles and whatnot.
Wow...surprised at the score.
Not that it is bad, just lower than I thought it would be.
The reviewer's complaints seem to be
- Frodo being there
- Use of CG

Oh, shut up, IGN.
