IGN: Based on Matthew Quick’s novel of the same, writer-director David O. Russell’s serio-comic Silver Linings Playbook follows Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper), a teacher newly released from a psychiatric facility after attacking his wife’s lover.
As he tries to rebuild the shattered pieces of his life, Pat fixates on winning back his estranged wife, despite his concerned parents’ (Robert DeNiro and Jackie Weaver) insistence that he move on.
Pat’s determined to remain positive – to find the silver lining in things – even as he vainly struggles to control his violent outbursts. Enter his buddy’s widowed sister-in-law Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), who is just as troubled and unfiltered a person as Pat.
