Millions of words have already been dedicated to criticising Hollywood’s obsession with remaking, rebooting and releasing sequels in preference to creating anything new, because though the past couple of years has seen successful reboots of Spider-Man and the X-Men, a mega-selling sequel to Nolan’s Batman franchise and a fantastic new Bond movie, for every success there are a number of crashing failures.
Unfortunately, when it comes to established franchises and properties, critical failure doesn’t always mean commercial failure, and the studios inevitably churn out the next addition, banking on the brand instead of the quality of the films. So we end up with yet another Paranormal Activity sequel, or some other sequel that over-extends the original and either threatens to destroy the legacy of the film or franchise.
Fight For Paradise Review: This reality show is nothing new but there are so many uncomfortable moments that will definitely give you the ick.
Bros Review: The series, as the title suggests, is about two adult men who want to behave like children and we are not here for that.
Going Home With Tyler Cameron Review: This is a simple, no-nonsense but cliched watch, with Cameron's boyish charms taking centre stage.
Trilogies are soo 2009. But yeah, the sequels are getting to be a bit overcrowded now. I wouldn't mine a spinoff or two. It worked for NCIS & Stargate
If you don't like the sound/look of these sequels then don't go and see them, its not hard. I'm tired of Paranormal Activity so I didn't go to see 4, does that mean that they should stop making them? No it doesn't, I am still alive and that film being made didn't affect me in any way. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean other people don't, I know a fair few who are looking forward to some of those movies and I am too. So please pull that giant stick out of your ass.
I'm not saying that sequels are good or bad, I'm just saying there's a lot of them.
It seems like a lot of movies have been blowing past trilogies lately
Paranormal, saw, twilight, and fast & furious.
I agree that some of these really don't need to be made but I just don't bother to go see them or rent them when they come out. I know what I like and what I don't like and I decide if I'm going to see something or not.
We do need some new fresh material in our movies though and I see it slowly coming in from some of the books being written so I'm waiting and hoping for some good ones that will come in the near future.
