Uncut Interview - Lenny Abrahamson and Jack Reynor for What Richard Did

"He is a good guy. Yea I mean I think maybe the way to think about it is there are many possible lives that Richard could have had. 99 out of 100 of them would have him be a good member of society, a good friend. Had he been allowed to grow up without this thing happening. And that’s the tragedy of the film. But he does have a certain darkness in him as well and that comes from having incredibly high expectations for himself. So if he lets himself down at all he can’t handle that."

Taron Egerton - Awful Choice

Jack Reynor - Wouldn't Mind

Alden Ehrenreich - Good match

However I'm still ticked off they've never once mentioned Anthony Ingruber. Seriously perfect casting, he looks like Harrison Ford, sounds like him, he's young I just don't get it. Instead they'd rather get another not as known actor.

Least Anthony Ingruber he'd also be cheap aswell

uncharted562962d ago

Does he have the acting chops?

coolbeans2962d ago

I haven't seen in any major roles, but he does a really good Han Solo impression.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

I could see him pulling it off.

pompombrum2962d ago

Yeah that's the question, I thought he did a great job playing a young Harrison Ford in Age of Adaline but it was such a tiny role it's hard to tell if he has the acting skills.

WizzroSupreme2964d ago

I have a feeling this will play out exactly like it did for Daisy Ridley's casting – no one on the famous people's "short-list" makes it at all and we get a total unknown that no one saw coming. I would hope that would be Anthony InGruber, but I'm not holding my breath.

StarWarsFan2963d ago

The problem with Anthony Ingruber is that it sort of falls into impersonation more than acting. I'm for Alden Ehrenreich; I think he holds a bit of a resemblance in smile without being obvious. Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor just seem like cookie-cutters; there's just no 'it' factor.

Porcelain_Chicken2962d ago

Id usually agree about people like Ingruber but this smAtar Wars we are taking about. I'm not talking smack as I'm a huge fan aswell but none of the leads have ever required Oscar winning performances. We hold the original trilogy on such a high pedestal that we forget that Mark Hamill wasn't that great of an actor at the time. And neither was Hayden Watshizface (not helping my cause I know). Anthony Ingurber did perfectly fine in Age of Adelaine, with a bit of work he can get to the level he needs to be.

**** THE FORCE AWAKENS SPOILER ALERT*****

The reason TFA was such a hit with fans was it's sense of continuity. Seeing fan favorites like Leia and Chewie back while giving closure to Han Solo. Whoever plays Han Solo going forward needs to capture Han's personality to a T!

StarWarsFan2959d ago

I agree with you in regards to the lack of star power at the time of the original movie, but this isn't starting from scratch now. Those movies came from thin air, whereas now it's an established franchise and Harrison Ford's portrayal is just iconic, which is why a full-on impersonation shouldn't be the basis, which is why I think Ingruber isn't being considered as some have complained here. I'd just like someone to make it their own without reinventing it, which is why I think Alden Ehrenreich would be solid. The other two names floated before just seem like cookie-cutters and I don't think they'd be able to make it their own or as iconic for another generation. They just sort of look generic. Ehrenreich stands out more.

Defectiv3_Detectiv32962d ago

Lmao, if only we could be so lucky. It would be the next best thing to not doing this movie at all!

cyclindk2961d ago (Edited 2961d ago )

They really SHOULD have CG on Leia though, hasn't aged well, especially the voice. (no offense, love Carrie Fisher). I really just didn't expect to hear that voice come out.

Defectiv3_Detectiv32961d ago

Even more disturbing was the amount of plastic surgery Carrie Fischer has had. I don't think I saw her face make an expression once.

'Star Wars' Han Solo Spinoff: Actor Shortlist Revealed

Variety

Sources tell Variety that after seeing thousands of actors, execs have cut the list down to about a dozen actors with Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, “Brooklyn” star Emory Cohen and “Everybody Wants Some” actor Blake Jenner among the names making the cut.

dauntingpixel3028d ago (Edited 3028d ago )

in truth, i don't want this movie to be made at all and if it has to happen, then i really don't want teller in that role. maybe scott eastwood. personally i would prefer chris pratt.

RetrospectRealm3028d ago

Chris Pratt is a TERRIBLE choice.

dauntingpixel3028d ago

it's a matter of opinion and i disagree with you. =)

Lord_Sloth3027d ago

Go watch Jurassic World. He could pull off Han, though he's too old for a film taking place with such a young Han.

RetrospectRealm3028d ago

I know that... You're the one who recommended him in your original comment... Lol

dauntingpixel3028d ago

i know. i'm just saying that i think he's a great actor and could pull it off is all

masso91123027d ago

I can imagine Pratt as Indiana Jones but not as Han Solo, and being in 2 different franchises owned by Disney that are set in space and all that stuff, wouldn't be good

3-4-53027d ago

Ansel Elgort looks the most like Harrison Ford of the bunch.

Hold_It3027d ago

I think Chris Pratt would be a great Han Solo and Indiana Jones. Something about him reminds me of a younger Harrison Ford.

-Foxtrot3027d ago

Miles Teller...the guy who has a face you want to punch and not because of his smug, arrogant attitude. Then you have Dave Franco, hey he's alright in somethings but he'd be an awful Han.

Some of these are far too young and baby faced while the others don't look anything like Han.

Where the hell is Anthony Ingruber, perfect choice.

Stringerbell3027d ago

Out of curiosity did Miles Teller steal your lunch money or something?

-Foxtrot3027d ago

I'm sorry but he's just got one of those faces along with his smug attitude when talking in interviews.

Plus he's not a very good actor.

Lord_Sloth3027d ago

It isn't just Foxtrot on this 1. I have to agree that every time Teller is on screen I just want to hit him. He just looks like the world's most smug twat!

Ashlen3027d ago

C'mon it's gotta be Shia LaBeouf they can go blast those aliens from crystal skull in hives of scum and villany! It'll be great lol

Disney buying Star Wars was one of the worst things to ever happen to the franchise. And thats considering the prequels ahich somehow look like masterpieces compared to this joke of a movie they just churned out.

cyclindk3027d ago (Edited 3027d ago )

Lucas is the worst thing to happen to Star Wars after he lost his dream team of actors who don't bow down and utter any insane line Lucas would have them read, the special effects gurus that made the visuals possible in the first place and the actual conceptual artists to bring the universe into reality, whether or not Lucas was the one who had final say what made the final cut. The musical genius is also independent of Lucas, John Williams is simply an amazingly talented composer. The audio effects people are wizards as well.

Lucas had an idea with SOME great, though sparingly novel, components, THOSE people above made it all actually happen, end of story.

annoyedgamer3027d ago

Who cares about all that? All i know is this thing they call a movie hat just came out is the worst iteration to date.
