Vagary's Chris takes a look at the first episode of NBC's new sci-fi series, Revolution.
"J.J. Abrams is a name that gets people listening. Four extremely successful television series and a trio of well received movies will do that for you. Thus it is not surprising that NBC has been getting out in front of its new sci-fi series, Revolution, and touting it as Abrams next series. However, unlike Abrams other babies (Lost, Fringe, etc…), where Abrams was directly involved in their creation, Revolution is the product of Eric Kripke (creator of Supernatural) and Abrams production company, Bad Robot, is co-producing with Warner Bros. Television."
Dinner with the Parents Review: It's a family comedy series following the Langers, who often turn their family dinners into a disruptively chaotic affair.
Bros Review: The series, as the title suggests, is about two adult men who want to behave like children and we are not here for that.
Going Home With Tyler Cameron Review: This is a simple, no-nonsense but cliched watch, with Cameron's boyish charms taking centre stage.
The girl is cute but she's not enough to keep me tuning in. The plot is thin, the characters on the whole are not very likeable, and the dialog is not at all captivating. I can't say I was expecting much, but even going in with low expectations, it left me disappointed. The premise is great, the show just lacks charisma and bite. The world should be nastier, grittier. I guess that's not going to happen on broadcast television, but it just doesn't feel right. I haven't been this disappointed in a new premiere since falling skies, which was absolutely abysmal. I will watch the second episode, but I think I will tap out after that.
