The Walking Dead': Danai Gurira (a.k.a. Michonne) Explains Her Armless, Jawless Zombie 'Pets'

EW:

The season 2 finale of The Walking Dead featured the arresting image of a hooded, katana sword-wielding figure carrying around two zombies in chains. That walking warrior was none other than Michonne, one of the most popular characters from the comic book on which the AMC drama is based. Now the woman who plays Michonne, Danai Gurira, gives some insight into those armless, jawless zombies known as “Pets,” which we will see much more of when season 3 premieres on Oct. 14.

I never read the comics, and I'll probably get bashed for this, but I'm actually not interested in this character. I hope she doesn't start cutting through waves of zombies or pull out some Resident Evil crap. I know that may not happen at all, but I just strongly dislike that whole katana wielding crap in a zombie apocalypse, seems too unrealistic.

It's actually very realistic, no ammo needed , sharp object that cuts things instantly. Youre just being pessimistic

Hold on! You've not read the comics?! You are missing out! Much better than the TV show and I started out with the TV show having never read a comic before.

I'm not being pessimistic, I love the show, but I'm just not interested in that character, exactly how many zombies are you gonna cut through until you're tired or make a costly error from close range?

I can tell you this much, even we are taking about fictional situations here... It's a hell of a lot quieter than shooting a gun

TheFinalEpisode4257d ago (Edited 4257d ago )

I would prefer a sword over a gun anyday in the zombie apocalypse, but I would have a Magnum on my pocket just in case :p

aDDicteD4257d ago

daryl's bowgun is much better though, but still sword is one of the things on top when it comes to weapon in a zombie apocalypse

LUCKYXS7LEVEN4257d ago

it may be true that having a sword is a good weapon on a zombie Apocalypse but remember it can hold out for just a little bid

Tres214257d ago

yea finding ammo 2 refill would be kind of hard something silent seems the way 2 go u just gotta worry about it rustin from alot of blood but im guessin zombies dont hav regular blood so it might actually help keep it clean.lol

o & Michonne is def not lik tha resident evil chick but she aint no slouch either

aDDicteD4257d ago

you'll soon like her character, trust me she's as bad-ass as you can get in a zombie apocalypse. plus the character development in the comics is really great and I'm sure that the tv series will follow that too.

LUCKYXS7LEVEN4257d ago

probably not , they'll kill her off and come up with some BS

I agree that a sword would be preferable in the zombie apocalypse, but that is only if you have the strength and stamina to wield it. Cutting up is hard work, and you would find yourself extremely fatigued if you're not in terrific shape. In that case, better stick with the bullets for as long as your supply lasts.

miamicanesruleall4257d ago

Oh, and this character might be the most bad ass introduced to the walking dead since the show started.
