THR:
The action film stars Jeremy Renner, who replaces the role of Matt Damon in the thriller directed by Tony Gilroy, who also co-wrote with his brother Dan Gilroy.
In the film, Renner plays the new off-the-grid Operation Outcome field agent, Aaron Cross, who is completing a rigorous solo training mission in Alaska. The thriller also stars Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton and Stacy Keach.
The Bourne Legacy currently holds a score of 76 percent on RottenTomatoes.
Todd McCarthy says that, "The series’ legacy is lessened by this capable but uninspired fourth episode."
McCarthy adds: "Gilroy has cheated his leading man out of a good part by providing scant backstory, personality traits or motivation other than the most simplistic one of saving his own skin and that of his companion in rebellion against superiors who feel they need them erased."
With the new The Crow remake coming soon, we take a look back at the 30-year-old cult classic original–and where the stars are now.
Kaam Chalu Hai Review: Based on true events, this movie is thought-provoking and inspiring
Rebel Moon Part 2 Review: This movie doesn't feel anything new or worth remembering, which is a shame.
I think this film is going to be great. I'm seeing it this weekend and no one can tell me different.
I like Renner, love Weisz, and have the first 3 films on blu-ray, yet have no interest in seeing this at all.
It's a cash in, lets be honest.
The book its based off of isn't by the same writer as the original 3 making it illegitimate in the first place.
But if that weren't enough the whole reason matt demon didn't make a sequel is because he and the director didn't think the scripts were "good enough" (his words) to warrant a sequel. I would consider that a big deal.
It seems like there's no real need for this movie other than the obvious, that Hollywood can slap on a brand name and pull in cash, but that always leaves fans disappointed.
Seeing this over the next week or so. Can't wait.
I wasn't sold on the idea until I saw Renner in MI4. I definitely thought he could do it based on that movie.
