10 Marvel Comics Joss Whedon Could Bring to TV

IGN:

It’s happening and we can hardly believe it. Joss Whedon is not only returning to write and direct The Avengers 2, but he’s also helping develop a TV series for Marvel and ABC, set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What will this TV show be? For now, we have no idea. But there are obviously a ton of possibilities. And suffice to say, the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly returning to TV to expand the world he already proved such a great fit with on The Avengers has us excited. Even assuming Whedon is more of a consultant than a hands on showrunner, there still are plenty of intriguing paths to go. Here are some potentials that make the most sense to us.

To be honest, I don't want a TV series with any superheroes. It sounds odd I know, but I don't think a TV series would do them justice enough.

Instead, I really like the idea of that SHIELD series. It could play off like a military/law enforcement show, so you'd be able to hook viewers who aren't necessarily into comic books, plus that leaves them open for some awesome cameos.

Imagine an episode where Robert Downey Jr. actually shows up as Tony Stark for something, instead of some random person in an Iron Man suit so they won't have to pay RDJ for continuous appearances. The same could go for all of the major characters.

With a SHIELD show you can pave the way for engaging new characters that are 'normal' and more relatable, and every now and again shake it up with a bad ass cameo.

I kinda agree with you on this one but if Joss is doing it...knowing how he thinks...he is such a fanatic and such a comic geek that he wants to see so many of the other Marvel characters acknowledged that he may surprise us and bring in some of those other Marvel superheros that some of us wouldn't mind seeing too. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

a problem with a tv show for me is mainly in the budget range to pull it off, like the prepose hulk tv show i dont see how well it can work

of course im not saying hes got to hulk out in every episode or anything like that

"Though no, it’s not likely that Joss Whedon would want to tackle his third TV show about vampires."

why wouldnt he want to make another vampire show? no disrespect to joss whedon hes awesome and i love his tv shows but IIRC his shows about vampires were probably his most successful so why not do a show about blade

Uggg a super hero show.....what are they going to stand around getting into arguments over nothing, in doors, because its cheaper to film there.....ugg I want tv to die.

I think Marvel should really pace themselves with their characters and not saturate the market with them.

tv series can do good with heroes with small market value, building them up is like an experiment so that if the audiences are captivated, then, they can at least try to bring it up in the big screen. among the mentioned..blade, she hulk are the most unlikely while runaways and shield can make it, given the fact that the story for them are not boring and the pace should be fast.
