A valiant effort: a fine cast, superb costumes, intricate sets, and beautiful art direction, but plays like an idea that wasn’t given the chance to come to fruition; it should have been much more than it was allowed to be.

According to Benoit Jacquot‘s Farewell My Queen, Marie Antoinette was a lesbian who looked like Diane Kruger and had her affair with a young woman, here presented in the guise of Virginie Ledoyen, disrupted by a Lea Seydoux lookalike.
If this thing can’t sell tickets then that old maxim about the marketing value of sex should be slung on for the scrapheap and set on fire.
So this trailer is NSFW but the clips below are, in clothing terms at least, fully buttoned up. As for bad language… well, you’ll at least have to pardon their French.
Marie Antoinette as a lesbian eh? Well that gives me a whole new appreciation for that time period.

LOL!!! Clearly the expression was originally "Let them eat Pie" but the French to English translation didn't quite make it properly.
