Shock Til You Drop:
Monsters: Dark Continent - a sequel to Gareth Edwards' Monsters - is getting closer to reality. As we reported recently, Tom Green is now directing from a script by Jay Basu and, today, we've landed a lengthy synopsis which gives you an idea as to where the sequel is headed.
Seven years on from the events of Monsters, and the ‘Infected Zones’ have spread worldwide. Humans have been knocked off the top of the food chain, with disparate communities struggling for survival. American soldiers are being sent abroad to protect US interests from the Monsters, but the war is far from being won.

TriStar has set Fede Alvarez to direct and Jay Basu to write a film that will delve into the universe Jim Henson hatched in the 1986 Jim Henson-directed cult classic Labyrinth. That duo will take on that hallowed project after Alvarez directs the script he wrote with Basu for The Girl In The Spider’s Web, the continuation of the Lisbeth Salander saga that Sony began with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Alvarez, who helmed for Sony the genre blockbuster Don’t Breathe, will do Labyrinth after he and Basu complete Spider’s Web. That film is casting and will begin production this fall.
Jeremy of The Daily Rotation wrote, "Monsters: Dark Continent is barely a sequel, failing to follow its predecessor in virtually every way, instead playing out as a very cliched war drama, with little to no actual monsters."
Deadline
In-demand Brit writer Jay Basu has closed a deal with Sony Pictures to write the feature adaptation of fanboy favorite video game Metal Gear Solid. The project is produced by Avi and Ari Arad and is being steered by production president Michael De Luca. Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings Of Summer) is attached to direct.
Why don't they just hire Kojima to do it, he's apparently leaving Konami or he's already left (rumours are all over the place) so why not just get him to do this.
Everything Jay has wrote has been rated poorly so I don't see how he's "In-demand"
