I was about to say I didn't bother with them but i do vaguely remember watching one of them and falling asleep. I think they were on a planet in some building waiting to be picked up? I dunno.. it wasn't good though.

I loved the book and will be the first to tell you that a movie that faithfully adapted the book would be a snoozefest.

The book was very introspective and contemplative, and completely from Rico's POV, no less. The long flashbacks, long monologues, Rico's long musings would make for the space-Marine equivalent of the Wonder Years.

The only hope for Starship Troopers to be in any way faithful to Heinlein's novel would be for an expansive mini-series, akin to what HBO is doing with Game of Thrones. Let's be honest, the novel left out a TON of details about the various worlds, and especially what the bugs even looked like or what sort of technology they had(they actually did employ spacecraft and beam weaponry). I would like for a mini-series to explore Rico's growing pains, expand upon the universe itself, and of course satisfy our appetites with some cool interstellar space battles.

As good as Troopers was, it was more thought provoking than anything else, despite the fact that the sci-fi backdrop and interesting characters therein was rife with potential. The book as it is can't be adapted for the silver screen, people just wouldn't have the patience for it.
