Here’s a first look at photos from the set of Empire State, the indie drama that stars Liam Hemsworth and Dwayne Johnson and tells the true story of two pals in the 1980s who stole all the money stored at an armored car company. Production is ongoing in New York and New Orleans on the period pic, which is being produced and financed by Emmett/Furla Films and distributed by Lionsgate. Adam Mazer wrote the script and Dito Montiel is directing.

After casting one of the new Expendables, Liam Hemsworth, and everybody's favorite thumb-with-a-face, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Dito Montiel's heist flick "Empire State" had easily filled up it's beefcake quota, and now the balance is being redressed somewhat by adding a bit of much needed femininity into the mix.
Emma Roberts -- an actress who we're slowly growing to like more and more with each project -- will play a waitress in the film who serves as a potential love interest for Hemsworth's character. The film itself centers on Hemsworth's character and his childhood friend who plan to rob an armored car depository, but unfortunately for them an NYPD detective played by The Rock is out to bust them.

I’ve just learned that The Hunger Games‘ Liam Hemsworth is about to close a deal to star as ‘Chris’ in Empire State, an indie heist movie written by Adam Mazer (Breach, HBO’s You Don’t Know Jack) with Dito Montiel (Fighting, The Son Of No One) directing. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is negotiating to play ‘Ransone’. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films are producing.
I don't know how he has time with the Hunger Game trilogy but good for him. I know that The Rock also has a lot on his plate right now so it seems that they like what they do enough to stay booked up.
