Spider-Man To Be Recast For Sinister Six?

Consider this merely a rumour for now but Spider-Man may be recast for Drew Goddard’s Sinister Six Movie.

Hit the jump and read the insider information which would see a new actor -- not Andrew Garfield -- as your friendly neighbourhood Spider-man in a "soft reboot".

This could be story within a story but the article says they got it from BAD who got it from Hitfix. Guess I'll leave it to the mods.

The HiFix part of BD's story isn't the part being reported in this story. The recast part is referenced afterwards.

BD is just my source for writing this story on VTS so surely there's no issue with that?

Now this sounds interesting, although if they are getting rid of Garfield just reboot it altogether and keep the Sinster Six movie for another time, it's not like it's going anywhere. Seems like they are doing this because they don't want an uproar with them rebooting Spiderman yet again. I mean if you get rid of Garfield then the first two films have got to go aswell.

They need someone older, wiser, run down...it would go alongside the SS film if it takes a more serious, mature path, you know with it being a bunch of villains and all. Least then they can establish how he's battled these villains for years and years making it so they finally team up with one another.

"Personally, I couldn’t be more against this news. Andrew Garfield absolutely nailed it as Peter Park"

Not really, he was pretty lousy in my opinion. He would of been better as Flash Thompson

They need an older guy to play Peter Parker? Garfield playing a teenager in high school was a huge stretch, any older and it will look silly.

Contrary to a lot of people's opinions, Peter Parker acted a lot like he did in these new films as he did in the old comics. The comics did not portray Peter as the geeky loner people for some reason expect him to be.

Yup

We've had two versions of Spiderman films and both of them focus on the high school student Peter Parker. If they try and tell that story again it's going to be boring.

They should go against the mainstream comics on this one and do something based off a smaller, lesser known storyline.

The Amazing Spider Girl...but not the storyline just that version of Peter.

I just think we need to see something different, I'm not saying make him a 40 year old man, just someone in his early/mid thirties.

This Peter Parker has battled the Green Goblin, he's went head to head with Doc Ock multiple times, he's friendly with Black Cat, he's had many showdowns with Electro and vulture, not to mention confronting Kingpin once or twice. So now we have him married to MJ, pregnant with their first child and he's thinking of retiring until Venom pops up which gives him the spark to keep protecting the city. If they do team with with Marvel it would be awesome to see him just getting back from the Secret Wars the Beyonder put him in and he brings the sybonite back with him.

I could see the last scene with Alison Mongrain poison MJ and her child then as it's about to go to the credits you see the very much alive Norman Osborn who she's working for...which Peter will get revenge on in the sequel.

Getting carried away lol

Why would they do that? (Talking about your comment above) There is a reason "Brand New Day" took place, because putting Peter in that spot leads to dead ends. He was married, he had the perfect life, etc... Brand New Day reversed that, then they destroyed what was left with Superior.

Being "complete" is just as boring as hearing the high school story again. I think he could be "slightly older" and be in college, or perhaps jump to him running his lab like he does in the comics, but that's as far as I'd jump. I wouldn't jump to marrying MJ and all that nonsense. Those stories are small and not very well known for a reason.

In terms of Garfield hitting the spot for Peter Parker, he very well did! Plus he was evolving clearly too. He was starting to tone down and you could see it, he was following the Parker from the comics down to a T.

-Foxtrot3486d ago

But then that's why you can tweak the source material so it doesn't lead to a dead end. Besides your talking about Brand New Day but that's not something which would ever get adapted is it.

"Those stories are small and not very well known for a reason"

They aren't know because they aren't massive storylines...not because no one likes them

So you honestly want to see him go through high school again or something else we've already seen. Jeez...

It's not going to be such a bad thing, it's not going to ruin Spiderman, it would just inject some life into the franchise to spice it up.

Oh and as for Garfield...highly disagree. He didn't fit Peter at all. His funny, sarcastic lines seemed like he tried too hard. He just didn't scream Peter Parker at all.

Soldierone3486d ago

Well in my comment I said putting him in college or further along with him owning his own lab would be fine, so I don't know where you got me wanting him to go through high school again lol Brand New Day won't happen because they won't run Peter into a dead end like that.

Plus you can't tweak those stories. The Amazing Spider-Girl IS Peters kid. That's better off as a spin-off series focusing on her. Otherwise you can't push a story with Peter married and having children, it ruins his character. There are so many great stories in the Spider-Man universe, why would you skip all of them and jump to one near a dead end? You do that and any story that includes a flashback of Gwen would be wrong.

And your complaint about Garfield seems more geared towards the writing, not his acting or portrayal of the character....

DarkBlood3487d ago

Well they be taking too long getting it off the ground damn it :p

StarWarsFan3486d ago

I haven't loved Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, but replacing him would just make a mess of the franchise at this point. I don't understand why The Sinister Six isn't just being called The Amazing Spider-Man 3. That's pretty much what it is. Spidey's obviously going to be in it and will have to fight the Six, so what's the difference really?

kevinodonnell913486d ago

Yeah, sounds like one big mess to me.

KingPin3486d ago (Edited 3486d ago )

who the hell cares.
it will still have the same themes, same lame jokes, same action, same special effects, same lame story, too many feels.

no thanks.

You know KingPin...you and I should team-up. I'll be the Riddler and you be Two-Face! We could rule the small portion of these comment sections!
