If you look lethargic enough you’ll find that 10,000 km writer/director Carlos Marques-Marcet’s workload consists, sizably, of editing. If you play connect the dots like most critics you’ll likely pair this data with the film’s eloquent constructions and juxtapositions. But I will not relegate Marcet’s talents to grade school plus and minuses. I will instead attribute it to a scorching zealous ardor for the form and those inexplicable abilities one calls “gifts” as if spiritually ordained by equally ineffable higher powers. Marcet’s 10,000 km is so thoroughly veracious and honest in every filament of its fiery wirings that it reignited within me that love I hold for the arts that pour out their hearts oblivious and delightfully indifferent of that irrational part of the form called business.
