Working Title Of Spider-Man Reboot Is Spider-Man: The New Avenger

CBM

We previously heard that the Spider-Man reboot would be called Spectacular Spider-Man, but it sounds like Marvel Studios are going in a very different direction with the title Spider-Man: The New Avenger. It's strictly a rumour for now, but hit the jump for details...

I feel like they've gone to that well already with Captain America and it really doesn't need to happen again. I can't say I have a better idea but I'd rather a different tagline.

Captain America was The First Avenger. Making this The New Avenger is like a callback to that one. Plus, it's commenting on the dreams of sometime getting Spider-Man to be an Avenger. Like someone else said, it's basically "Spider-Man: He's Finally A Goddamn Avenger". That's exactly right.

why not go with
1) Ultimate Spider-man
2) Spider-Man: Revenge of (insert villains name here)

option 2 was in case they planned to redo villians theyve already done. venom, goblins or doc oc.

I wonder if this is setting up a literal New Avengers with Spider-man in the lead the same way that Captain America headed up the original Avengers. Spider-man, Luke Cage, Ant-Man – yup, the Avengers, round two.

If Disney/Marvel could just get Wolverine away or on loan from Fox(?) then the New Avengers would definitely be complete.

It'll be called "Yet Another Cash Crab Man".

The original trilogy was good but after that the films have gone downhill. You really can't beat Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire and Danny Elfman.

The films seem to make lots of profit regardless of quality so good for them but I'm done with Spider-Man.

Finally someone who echoes my thoughts. Superhero movies peaked with Sam Raimi's first two Spiderman films and are coming out so fast that they've lost that special feel they used to have. Only exceptions for me would be the last two X-Men movies.

Rute3278d ago

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you. Tim Burton's two Batman films and Raimi's first two Spider-Man films are in my opinion the best superhero films. Iron Man was good as well as was Dark Knight. The only good 2010s superhero film in my opinion was The Avengers.
