It kind of starts that way, but doesn't last long. More of a dramatic performance.

Thank you! That is much appreciated.

Thank you for commenting. Yeah, I love both performances as well. They show how well Hanks can do comedy and drama.

The list is clearly an opinion of my most anticipated 2013 releases. Besides, if new films from the likes of James Grey, Nicolas Winding Refn & Terrence Malick don't do it for you, then you're watching the wrong movies.

I'm pretty sure he meant the second installment of The Hobbit films.

I love The Hobbit. In fact ...An Unexpected Journey is in the top 5 of my fav 2012 releases. I just wanted to shake it up a little this year, and not focus too much on sequels.

Hi StarWarsFan,

Thank you for your comment.

Like all lists of this nature, opnion is purely subjective.

I've based mine on what I've seen thus far and what is projected to come from these actresses, which leads me to believe that these next era of leading ladies are not a fad but the future.

Cheers,
Matt

Really sick with all of these supposed Dark Knight Rises spoilers. Just respect Nolan's decision to keep plot details a mystery and STFU!

Hi StarWarsFan,

Burning Man is one of the best Aussie films I've seen in a while. Be sure to check it out if it comes your way.

Hopefully you'll take the weekend to rectify that.

Hey guys. Thank you for your comments. Much appreciated.

Both Boondock Saints and Anti-Christ were considered, yet undiscovered gems like To Live & Die in L.A. and Light Sleeper knocked them out of the top 10.

Dafoe has many great performances, yet these are the 10 I consider his best.

Cheers,
Matt

Having watched a bunch of his films of late, I totally agree.

An over reaction my Moviefone. The Thing prequel is a good film, much better than it could have been and does its what it was supposed to do.

You know todays film industry is in in a bad place when a film directed by Jim Sheridan, and starring the likes of Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts, is one of the worst reviewed films of the year.

I take some pride in being the first critic to link Real Steel with Over the Top. It's the inner Stallone tragic in me, I guess.

Hi Quagmire,

Thank you for your comment.

If you watch any documentaries on the 1983 Scarface, there was also much controversy over a Cuban druglord living in Miami circa 1980s from the Cuban community.

In short, regarldess of the ethnicity of the main character, controversy will follow. I guess that's what makes the Scarface movies so interesting in a social/political way.

Cheers,
Matt

Hey guys,

Thanks for the comments.

While it is true that any year could be a blockbuster fiesta, there is a level of anticipation for the releases of 2012 that is unparalleled.

Also, thanks for spotting the Judi Dench gaffe.

Cheers,
Matt

Hey MD,

Thanks for the comment.

The Magnificent Seven is a classic which you have to watch. Featured the breakthrough of one Steve McQueen.
