And then you have something like Green Lantern, which was a big disappointment, that says otherwise.
Granted, there are going to be hits. For instance, I know TDKR is going to crush at the box office. But at the same time, generally speaking, interest has waned.
Fans are becoming more critical of these movies. They've been burned too many times by the genre at this point. They're getting fed up with reboots, etc. For many reasons, the whole comic bo...
3 per year? Plus whatever comic book/superhero movies anybody else is doing? Can we say overkill? If you thought the theaters were diluted with comic book movies now, just wait. Fans are really gonna start getting burned out on this genre at this rate. Hell, they already are to a certain extent.
Here's something interesting to point out. Look closely at the stack of comic books he's carrying. The top two are the exact same comic. So, why does he have multiple copies of the same thing? I have no idea, but it's something I noticed and seems weird.
Oh I bet those Whedonites will go crazy for this. It's all actually pretty cool, though. And this comes at a great time, releasing right before SDCC. I'm guessing I'll be seeing stuff about this when I'm out there, with plenty of people buying a copy.
LOL! Yeah right. Nolan is an auteur that has respect for his craft. He's expressed his dislike for 3D. Given the power that he has in Hollywood now, he's simply not going to be bullied into using it. The difference between Nolan and the big name directors this article mentions is that Nolan is still very much an indie director at heart. He's like Kevin Smith or Tarantino in that way. He's not going to succumb to Hollywood trends just cause it's what everybody else is doing...
I wouldn't mind at all if they make a movie from this property. I used to love me some Carmen Sandiego.
That being said, I don't care for Jennifer Lopez doing it. I mean she'd look the part well, but as far as acting goes, she's not that great and I don't see her pulling off that role really. Then again, if it stays true to form, you rarely really see Carmen Sandiego herself.
No real surprise here. Nothing really came out last week to compete with it. Project X sure wasn't going to dethrone Sherlock Holmes.
On that note, Sherlock won't be making a three-peat here. With this week seeing the release of 21 Jump Street and Wrath of the Titans, one (if not both of those) will do better sales for this week. Possibly even The Artist topping Sherlock. Though that seems a tad unlikely as it's not one for everyone really (though the Oscar awards...
The "heat" doesn't bother me. I'm from the south. It's not really hot in San Diego, especially in comparison to what I'm used to.
The rough part would be having to get there so early just to ensure I'd make it in. I'd probably only get like 2 hours sleep doing that. Then have to wait in line for 6 hours.
P.S. If anybody complains about how "hot" it is to me when I'm in San Diego again, I'm punching them in ...
I'd love to go to this panel myself. However, I'm imagining it's going to be a pretty high-interest panel. As such, I'm not really sure I have the desire to make sure I'm in line no later than 5am just to ensure I'd make it into Ballroom 20 for this.
Oh well, I'm willing to bet somebody puts a video online at some point.
They dont need a lot of time with these movies. Filming doesnt take long and the minimalist approach probably makes post production a breeze.
Paranormal Activity 3 didnt go into production until about this same time last year.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Fox is doing this after seeing how successful The Muppets was last year.
Bad news for you, Fox: it's not going to happen. Sesame Street doesn't/won't have the same appeal as The Muppets at all.
This is good news. Glad they're getting the ball rolling on this. Should be interesting to see what they come up with. Not sure who I'd like to see helm this one though.
Forgot all about this one too. It will definitely be nice to see The Wachowskis back again, though. It's something I'll definitely look out for.
I love the idea of Paul Bettany doing it. I think he'd make a really good one.
Michael Stuhlbarg: not sure I'd pick him for that. But I did watch MIB3 the other day and his role there definitely has me interested in seeing more from him.
As for Tennant, never got into Dr Who, so my exposure to Tennant really is just his appearance in the Fright Night remake. From that, he looks like he could pull it off, but I don't have enough to go on.
...
I can't imagine why the studio wouldn't be all over wanting to make this sequel. I'd imagine there's definitely a good audience for it out there.
Who knows, maybe they'll be able to drum up studio excitement soon enough. Then they can convince Carrey to come back on.
If they can't get Carrey back, though, I say scrap it. There doesn't really seem a point to do it if Jim and Jeff aren't both doing it.
It is the same trailer pretty much. The difference is in what Mike says when Sulley pulls the cover down. It's like Pixar just gave each site an alternate take.
It's definitely up there for me as well. Not many can top it. The trailer here seems to be pretty damn promising too. Can't wait to check it out.
I love this news. I'm a huge fan of Zimmer and think he's great. I have to imagine Bates is a bit upset right now though.
Never seen Leo "let loose" and be insane? I'd suggest watching The Beach. Not insane the same way that a Riddler character would be, but he definitely lets loose and is crazy.
Sold out of tickets for 2013 SDCC you mean? I don't know about that. As far as I know, tickets don't go on sale till later, with pre-registration occurring at SDCC itself.
