It’s all so silly... people are not color blind, if you are going to change something about an established character either A) don't pretend it isn’t obvious and write something into the canon that accounts for it, or B) just create a new damn character, or C) cast a person of ANY size, shape, color, gender, but do the completely dreaded yet entirely practically necessary which is makeup, body suits and CG to make them look as the character was intended to look, of course defeating the pu...
Young clint Eastwood in a muscle suit should have been wolverine.
Whoa! Looks pretty mean and he might have just enough "crazy" to pull off an interesting interpretation of this character.
Of course it "looks" and "feels" worse. Talent comes in making the CG seemless with the non-CG elements. Most vis effects designers don't seem all that concerned with this, but I won't put it all on the artists, as it is ultimately down to directorial/production oversight and vision. Jurrasic Park (1) is probably still one of the best examples of achieving this.
Pic looks cool by itself. Showdown... **SPOILER** ... though I think the entire remaining conflict feels, on the whole, a bit stunted due to the rationale they gave to Thanos' actions, ... there just doesn't feel like there is as much of an imperative to undue his actions, or that he himself was all that intent on accomplishing them in the first place, too blasé. Overconfidence is one thing, but he was straight unconcerned with just about anything.
Three on right in pic would all work.
Good, he needs to die so his pseudo-son, Spider Boy, can become the alt-super hero persona using a variant of Iron Man suit to become known as... the Iron SpiderTM.
**SPOILERS**
What would be cool, to incorporate some unused footage from the original trilogy somehow, when she was young, make it like a sort of recording some other character whips out and shows to some other character, it would be both old and new at the same time for every audience member... I don't know who at this point would be in possession of such a recording since basically everyone will be dead? JESUS!
Luke
Han
Leia
Oooooorrr! She get's horribly mangled and has to wear... dun, dun, dun... a Darth Vaderesque life support suit!!!
To mask the new actress mostly.
Yes! DJ is how you make a character with a jolt of political commentary. Not some boring-azz backdrop character, main-character wannabe with sob stories. Yes they all play a part.. whoopidee doo. Now go back to maintaining the ship systems. Save THAT for the Seventh Heaven Star Wars spin-off.
I don't think there is reason, on the whole, to balk at the idea of doing digital-recreations of people, living or dead, but in instance like this and if there are alternative avenues, they are worth exploring.
In the case of the universe and the story and its characters (which despite all perceptions, ARE dynamic and can be rewritten and changed at will), I don't believe it necessary to, say, kill off the character because the actor happened to pass away.
...
Can't trump that final scene with the bird...
They really SHOULD have CG on Leia though, hasn't aged well, especially the voice. (no offense, love Carrie Fisher). I really just didn't expect to hear that voice come out.
CG Han, CG HAN, CG HAN!
Oh no :) too naughty
Ahh, hadn't noticed and never knew of his bad mouthing. But I like the irony of it, sort of
1st Person: "Hugo Weaving Effect? Who's Hugo Weaving?"
2nd Person: "Exactly."
And then he dies, he gets stabbed through the tummy and some chick will take over, Diana Jones...
What is the Hugo Weaving effect?
I know fans will always defend their chosen obsession to the death, but it isn't Shakespeare... It isn't even unique. I loved Star Trek and especially Deep Space Nine, but I watched plenty of interviews and behind the scenes and things and most of the starring characters were very candid and frank about how they viewed the shows and their part in it. It is just WORK for many of them, others look at the experience from the perspective of an artist/actor, not necessarily the content it...
But what about Chewbacca?
