Reputedly Kevin Reynolds' original cut of the movie was over 3hrs long, a lot darker in tone and did in fact feature the Sheriff of Nottingham more prominently. Which is why Kevin Costner locked him out of editing and recut the movie.
I consider myself, hip and up on things.. but WHO???
I've read there's a remake with Dwayne Johnson attached.. although not much more has been stated. Terrible idea though.
Also, go watch 'Bone Tomahawk' one of the best movies from last year. Kurt is damn fine in it, in fact damn good..
*edit*
for spelling
Without a doubt, 'Home' one of the finest things ever on TV let alone a 'X-Files' episode.
It's kind of sad to me because 'Home' was the reason I was watching 'The X-Files' - that's what I wanted to see, those kind of episodes, sadly though they went with the whole Alien abduction/conspiracy for the majority of it's time on the air (and the 2 movies). It was the reason I stopped watching it, long before it finally went off air.
Oh good lord, seriously a sequel and 25yrs after the original?!
Well, the movie can't rely on 3D (or it's inflated ticket prices). So, Cameron is gonna have to come up with something different.
IMO I just don't see 'Avatar 2' doing anything B.O. wise like the first one.
Won't have to wait long.. Episode VIII comes out Christmas 2017.
Also, 'Star Wars: Rogue One' comes out Christmas 2016.
$154mil is what Sony has spent on this and that doesn't include any marketing.
This movie will need to do $450mil minimum.
By comparison, the original 'Ghostbusters' from 1984 cost $30mil to make - and back then, that was an absolute fortune.
O.T. - Paramount just dropped the teaser for next summer's 'Star Trek Beyond'
Honestly, I have no idea what to make of the trailer.. looks like 'Star Trek' meets the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' while trying to do 'Defiance' Strange choice of music for the trailer too.
The real reason he's not in the movie is money. Will reportedly wanted $20mil (I've read reports that state $40mil) plus points on the B.O. gross. Has nothing to do with him doing 'Suicide Squad' or anything else. He priced himself out of it.
True, Carpenter's is a remake.. however his version sticks more closely to original source material than the original did.
Either way, BOTH movies are absolutely classics of the genre and should not be missed.
'Mad Max: Fury Road' is on that list but NOT 'Mad Max 2'? seriously that movie is way better than Fury Road IMO.
Movies that would be on my list.
Rambo (2008)
A Better Tomorrow (1986)
Tango & Cash (1989)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
some of the 'Bond' movies
From Russia with Love
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
The Spy who Loved Me
License to Kill
.. and they'll make double or even triple that on the merchandising, toys, books..
You have to see it. It has one of the nuttiest Nicholas Cage crazed performances for the ages.. and a bear knocking out a woman. Bat chit insane stuff.
I have to say that was underwhelming to me.. I just can't put my finger on it but something was missing, what though.. IDK. But something is.
The CGI is overwhelming as well.. it looks like CGI (clean, sharp, sterile)
I hope they release a second longer trailer soon.. maybe that one will sway me.
Why bother though..?
Think about it, in the original 'Die Hard' John McClane was just an ordinary cop, family man w/kids.. some friction between his wife and himself.. all normal..
Then he goes to L.A. (where his wife works) and a Christmas party at Nakatomi Plaza.. that's when John McClane BECAME extraordinary, when European thieves (posing as terrorists) hijack the party..
No need for a prequel, the John McClane we all know and...
Universal owns the movie rights to 'The Hulk' and they've already said, they have no intention of giving the rights back to Marvel.
That's a WTF on that 'The Incredibles 2' date.. didn't Disney, just last year announce it with a June 2016 date??
That's also a hell of a delay on 'Toy Story 4' too..
Guess we'll be seeing lots of Marvel and Star Wars movies to fill the gap.
Boy, they weren't kidding when they said teaser..
I was there opening weekend July 30th 1981 (UK) I was 10. Such an amazing movie and one that has to be seen on the big screen with an audience.
