February Contest Details

JL|3728d ago |Blog Post|11|

First off, I just want to point out that winners will be announced for January contests shortly (once I've had time to tally all the votes for the FilmWatch Movie Awards).

In the meantime, I wanted to go ahead and at least get up the details for this month's contests. With us being in the middle of awards season, several big movies have been released on DVD and Blu-ray recently, including several award winners and nominees. That trend will continue this month. So we're going to be giving people a chance to pick up some of these hits. And we'll also be returning to our popular Oscar Prediction Contest.

*****CONTRIBUTOR CONTEST*****
1st place: $75 Amazon gift card
2nd place: $50 Amazon gift card

*****COMMENTER LOTTERY*****
Y'all should know the deal by now. For those of you that don't, simply be ranked in the top 15 of top commenters for the month of February here on Filmwatch, and you'll be entered into the drawing. Three winners will be drawn from the pool of 15.

1st place: 2 DVD/Blu-rays of your choice
2nd place: 1 DVD/Blu-ray of your choice
3rd place: 1 DVD/Blu-ray of your choice

*****OSCAR PREDICTION CONTEST*****
Our popular prediction contest will continue. I will create a separate blog post each week highlighting certain categories from the upcoming Oscars. Simply comment on those blog posts with your predictions for the winners of the featured categories. At the end of the month, the one with the best prediction record will be crowned this year's King (or Queen) of the Oscars. Plus you'll get what I think is a pretty cool prize.

What is that prize you may ask? Well, given the awards season I thought we'd share a nice opportunity that goes with the nature of this season. This year's Oscar Prediction prize will be a one-year membership with AFI, at the star level! Membership in this prestigious organization comes with free movie tickets, monthly newsletters and magazines, exclusive giveaways and even exclusive voting privileges in the AFI awards (plus more)!

So there you have it everyone. Good luck to all. And stay tuned within the next couple of days for the first round of Oscar Prediction categories, as well as the winners for January.

Rules and Guidelines:
1. DVD prizes are for standard movies only. Box sets, special collector's editions or seasons of TV shows are not allowed unless otherwise stated.
2. Competition is open to all FilmWatch users, except for employees of HAVAmedia and immediate relatives. Contests are not limited to the US/NA.
3. In the event of unforeseen circumstances FilmWatch/HAVAmedia reserves the right to substitute the prizes for alternatives of equal or greater value.
4. Spamming of comments, heat altering or cheating of any nature will result in disqualification from all contests for the month.
5. Prizes are not transferrable.
6. The winners of the competition will be notified by PM here on FilmWatch.
7. Failure to reply to PM notification within seven (7) days results in forfeiture of prize.

Ooh. The Comment lottery has been upgraded :D

Pretty cool that the comment thing isn't a lottery anymore. Nice that you switch things up! :)

It is a lottery, be one of the 15 top commenters and those 15 will be entered into the lottery.

RetrospectRealm3727d ago

Woops. I guess I just browsed over and saw 1st place, 2nd place, etc. Thanks!

I'm excited to know the results of the very first filmwatch movie awards! and good luck to everyone!

DVD prizes are for standard movies only? Does that mean we can't choose any Criterion collection stuff? They can be hella expensive... Yes, I said "hella".

JL3724d ago

Yes that's typically what that means. I have to work on a budget when doing these. So when it comes to vague prizes like "dvd of your choice" i have to put a cap on it so I can ensure I'm within budget at the end of the month.
