Bryan Intihar, Creative Director for Spider-Man at Insomniac, said to be impressed and in awe with what Sony's first party studios have been doing lately with the likes of Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War, and the upcoming games by Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch.

My only complaint is their trend towards tight, over the shoulder camera angles.

AspiringProGenji2198d ago (Edited 2198d ago )

But only TLoU and now GoW are over the shoulder. Every other action game is TPS. Now if you said many of their games are TPS then you may have a point.

I don't know about you but I prefer to see my characters on screen rather than a walking gun in an FPS game. Then again FPS ins't Sony's strength atm and since they aren't that much of my type of game, I am not complaining

Cyborgg2198d ago

Wait mostly all TPS is like that this gen even the multiplatform games like Evil Within and so on 😁

OB1Biker2198d ago (Edited 2198d ago )

I love that camera angle but it's not true. You do raise an interesting point in that I'd like to be able to choose the camera angle in many games. Especially the first person view I can't stand in non VR games.

tombfan2198d ago

Trend would be like another huge open world, i'm sick o' that :) last huge open world I played was Ni No Kuni 2 and it doesn't even feel that big with the teletransportation stuff.

Imalwaysright2198d ago

Yeah pretty much every third person game that has shooting mechanics, no matter the genre has an over the shoulder camera.

rpvenom2197d ago

I mean to be fair. a lot of games now are offering both options.. TPS and FPS.. GTA V. Evil Within 2. Ghost Recon Wildlands.. ETC

i love Sony and their studio but the only thing i fear is that come next gen, sonys confident of them dominating the market would raise the price on next gen console. Think ps3 when it was first released all over again

The Wood2197d ago (Edited 2197d ago )

They've learnt their lesson. I'm sure they predict ms won't mess up as badly next gen

They will be firing

princejb1342197d ago

@thewood

im sure you work for sony and know all the insiders by saying "they've learned their lessons". Is a corporation. They never learn their lessons is all about profit

Jayszen2197d ago

@princejb134

The price of the PS3 was not unreasonable considering we were getting a brand new major tech like Blu-ray with it. Most film-lovers I know used the PS3 as their 'go to' player as at the time a stand-alone player used to cost between £700 to a £1000. In addition, we had changeable hard-drives, nothing to pay to access PSN, and a better outfitted console. Despite the initial drawback, Sony replied with really excellent new IPs like Uncharted, Infamous, TLOU and many more just to ensure that it caught up despite having started a year later and with a huge price disadvantage and then surpass the obvious competition. Even if Sony dominates, the consoles are worth what they cost and the games always come no matter what. This has been their strength through 4 consoles and I doubt they will change now after the strategy has paid off so very well this generation.

Michiel19892197d ago

Software sales is where they gain most of their profit from, and considering their history with the ps3 launch price I dont think they will make the same mistake.

The Wood2197d ago

Has nobody factored in the og ps3 came with features you had to buy separately for the 360 and ones they would eventually add to later iterations

hdmi

Built in Wi-Fi 5.0

Blu-ray drive

Chargable pads

Sd card slots

Ability to swap out the hdd

Bc

Mouse compatibility

It still sold faster than it's cheaper counterpart plus didn't have the hardware issues. It was full of tech

Playstation’s first party studios are in leagues of their own.

GaboonViper2198d ago

This right here is the motherf**king truth.

SuperSonic912198d ago

Come to think of it PS4 really need no competition from Xbox, Nintendo, PC or Mobile.

Sony's first party developers are trying to 1 Up each other in terms of high quality games already .... inside the PS4 ecosystem.
LOL
And that is greatness!
PS4 quality games guaranteed!

morganfell2198d ago

@Super,

That is always something people ignore. They tend to think if Sony did not have Nintendo and MS they would rest on their laurels. No. Look when the PS2 was at its height. Sony didn't stop and coast then either.

81BX2197d ago

@Morgan
Do you honestly think Sony would be where it is at without competition? I'm not just asking about the work the devs are doing I'm also talking psn and the console it's self.

ravinash2197d ago

That is true of the games, but you have to remember the PS4 was the result of what happened between PS3 and Xbox 360.

Juggernaut: a huge, powerful, and overwhelming force or institution

Truth!

Sony's first party studios are boss

Nyxus2198d ago

This is what's great about having multiple amazing studios, they get inspired by each others work to put out the best they can.

GaboonViper2198d ago

I love the friendly rivaly between the studios, all trying to one up the other but always respectful and sharing in each others work, this is why i game on PS as my main platform, Sony and PS were the best thing to happen to the videogame industry.

Nyxus2198d ago

Exactly, another example is Guerrilla Games sharing their game engine with Kojima so he can use it for his new project.

Majin-vegeta2198d ago

Their quality is unmatched by other parties😁

LavaLampGoo2198d ago

Yeah it's hard to argue. Pc gamers might have armies of Indies, but don't continues to pump out a stream of solid exclusive that are possibly only marginally beaten by Nintendo

Alexious2198d ago

To be fair PC still has quite a few exclusive titles, though they are niche for the most part.

zeuanimals2197d ago

RTSs, MMOs, MOBAs, etc. are not exactly niche. And PC is where you find most of them.
