Kojima: I'm Not Wasting Time and Money on Death Stranding, I Really Think I'm Doing This Pretty Fast

Hideo Kojima addressed speculation regarding Death Stranding's development status by saying that he's doing this game "pretty fast" and not wasting time and money at all.

If you are into the weird and deep meaning stuff you'll like it.

OT: We all know under what conditions he was working at Konami, did it ever occur to us that if the man was under pressure and pretty much misserable and practically forced to work on a sequel after sequel of an IP he wanted out from years ago that it might've let to those those delays he is so notorious for?

Now he has full creative freedom, lets see how DS goes and then we can judge him fair and square.

Senboza2325d ago

You talk like you were there when stuff went down... We don't know what happened between Konami and Kojima. So please don't start judging both parties.

UltraNova2325d ago

You both must be either living under a rock the past 2 years or you are Konami shills.

DarXyde2325d ago

blacktiger and senboza,

Hard to say exactly what happened, but considering Konami basically fired his entire team, restricted their access into the headquarters, use the engine that same team developed shamelessly, offer little new in terms of mechanics to Metal Gear Survive, trolled the fanbase by having Snake Eater remade in FOX for pachinko, and have a history of destroying beloved IPs after the creators leave, I think it's reasonable to have very limited sympathy for the corporation in this context.

Maybe Kojima was wasteful. Hiring Sutherland over Hayter was a pretty bad move. Regardless of who is right in this instance, I find it strange for anyone to feel even somewhat remorseful towards Konami. Their issues with Kojima clearly became petty and radiated to other aspects of the company.

bouzebbal2324d ago (Edited 2324d ago )

then take your time Kojima..
we have enough for next year. i haven't even played games from january 2017 yet :D

ravinash2324d ago

It's his own company now, so I'm sure he's feeling more of the pressure about budget and deadlines than he did before.
At least now he will have full artistic freedom.

I really hope it all make sense and its not "nanomachines" all over the place.

codelyoko2325d ago

Just let the man do his thing. it's not like we don't have a boatload of games to play while we wait

"I’ve been reading a lot on the Internet of people saying I’ve spent the last year just traveling around and having fun. A lot of people saying I’m wasting time and money. But that couldn’t be further from the truth."

There is the problem...he is listening to trolls on the internet. Any of his fans know that he puts out quality and what he makes is special. This won't be any different.

CP_Company2325d ago

How you could see the world and expierence it without travels? Books and travels opens the eyes to people. It is very important to do it to refresh everything in life and in your head.

raWfodog2325d ago

And even if he was traveling around and having fun, isn't that what life is supposed to be about? Enjoying one's self and experiencing things. We don't want him to become burnt out and having it start to effect his work and mentality.

bluefox7552325d ago

I think the people saying these things are probably from a certain group that may or may not be able to play the game once it's released.

bolimekurac2325d ago

dude a ps4 is under 250, its not that hard to get a console for the people who dont have one\
its not like a ps4 costs 1000 dollars

And yet I’m sure they’ll be targeting checkboard 4k on their dynamic 4k mid gen console that was created to grab some of the PC audience

100_SavAGe2325d ago

Will still look better than all Microsofts first party titles ^_

DialgaMarine2325d ago (Edited 2325d ago )

And? Doesn’t change the fact that this game will be far more incredible than anything put out on the “uncompromised 4K” mid gen PC audience grab.

_-EDMIX-_2325d ago

Trust me I don't really think that matters all that much when you can't even play the game in the first place.

DrJones2325d ago

I hope 1080p remains the standard resolution, 4K wastes gpu power

KaiPow2325d ago

Not having to pay and create your own game engine certainly helps, I'm sure.

Alexious2325d ago

I wonder if he considered using the Unreal Engine 4 first.

CP_Company2325d ago

From what he told in PSX, he first traveled threw all the studios and watched all game engines in person.

Maybe he could thought about it he did not get any impression from any sony studios game engines.

xX-oldboy-Xx2325d ago

UE4 wouldn't be up to his standard, it's more of Jack-of-all-trades engine.

zivtheawesome2325d ago

i think UE4 was his original plan as the E3 2016 trailer was made in that, but afterwards mark cerny offered kojima to travel with him to sony's studios around the world for the best engine and he picked decima, which IMO feels like UE4 maxed out.
