I think people know it is coming, some just dislike it being called 'the beast/da beast' as it's a bit purile, hence the downvotes.

I'm looking forward to it but whether it will encourage me to play my Xbox catalogue of games over my ps4 ones we will have to see.

actually I think it just comes down to people that don't like Septic so they downvote whatever he says. Even if he was to say that water is wet he would get more downvotes than upvotes. Shows the level of reason we get to deal with on N4G on a daily basis.

A journey to more power? Isn't that what gaming is always about? Isn't that what console gaming always does?

How is everything going to change for consoles on and after Nov. 7th? Seems pretty standard par for the course when a new console arrives, and this isn't even a new gen of consoles. Sony already beat MS to the punch with the mid-gen, and it hasn't changed everything for consoles since it's release. It was more powerful, and did what the X1X will do at it's core....play this gens games at a higher resolution and graphics quality.

I see nothing in the mid-gens which is game changing for the console market beyond a new release paradigm which calls into question the traditional console cycle.

Plus, I've seen many similar comments said about the PS4P before it's release, and the reality is, it's not all that amazing in the grand scheme of things. It's not terrible for those that want to buy in, but the end results in terms of support which really utilizes the power makes the mid-gens a bit redundant, and if people weren't griping over 4K since before this gen started, what was put out originally from both companies would have been more than sufficient to maintain this generation until 2019-2020.

There have been very few game changing moments when it comes to console gaming. Even new generations don't change things that often. The original Atari 2600, NES, PS1, 360/PS3 were the game changers in console history. Everything else is just more power. Mid-gens certainly don't qualify. They're a stop gap measure to prolong a console generation, and if anything hold back advancement as it's likely to mean developers have to hold back their designs while waiting for a new generation while maintaining the concept of forward compatibility. In the end, I wouldn't be surprised if this generation actually lasts longer than the last, and even moving into this generation, we didn't see this huge advancement in game design....so what is the X1X realistically going to bring to the table to change anything?

I keep seeing you say BRING ON THE X but once X marks the spot and there's no more Xbox brand then what are you going to do?? They have a horrible launch in coming probably the worst in video game history I'd be interested in the Xbox One X IF it had new games coming to it at launch and all thats really out there is enhanced games.

sigrid, other then uncharted and gt what is there for the next few months on ps4. in 2018 both ps4 and xbox have many games coming so your no games stuff is invalid. the numbers show exclusives dont get bought anywhere near the amount as 3rd party games do, exclusives are needed but are not the end all be all in gaming.
im glad sony has some good exclusives coming, if xbox had all the exclusives then there would be no reason to own a ps4 or ps5, so its good to have both

And as for your comment about multiplatform sales, well year they are on multiple systems that said some of the best selling games so far this year have been exclusives. And most months the top sellers list have been filled with exclusives. Last month seven out of the top ten selling games were exclusives from Nintendo and Sony.

Good. I'm not a fan of MS but they should stay in this business. Without them Sony would go rampant probably. This MS' last chance though. They better deliver. And if they do, this'll push Sony to do even more. Win-win for both camps IMO.

Do more? Surely what we should be expecting from Hardware manufacturers is to support that hardware with software. Sony seem to constantly doing that, not sure what more they can do apart from the make the next hardware as focused as the PS4.
Consoles will always be about the games, that won't change.

I absolutely agree, software is the most important part of the platform and Sony got it covered very well IMO. But they can always come up with something more. Official Pro controller from Sony (not 3rd party), release Remote Play app on all Android phones, not just Xperias etc. They still have a room for improvements without releasing yet another, stronger SKU.

Gamestop still has plenty of pre-orders for it,the only people that'll buy are the tech savvy XBO fanatics majority of folks especially the casuals which are the majority are not going to spend 500 dollars for it knowing they probably don't own a 4k tv nor care about 4k graphics.They'll spend their hard earned money on a Switch,PS4 slim or a XBOS.

LOL I have an 8Tb and a 4TB external hard drive connected at the same time to my 2Tb Xbox One S giving me 14TB of Hard Drive space. Talk about over kill but there you go lol. I think I am ready with free space hehehe. Xbox One X Project Scorpio edition was pre-ordered as soon as they became available for day one delivery. I will lose 1TB of internal HDD space since Xbox One X has only a 1Tb hard drive, but 13TB of hard drive space with my two externals plugged in to my new Xbox One X should last me quite awhile. Can't wait!

We know every new xbox is gonn run a windows version for os and ps is gonna run their os. Still going have a controller and probably look the same. wait wut? so your argument was that this isn't a next gen and you answer by saying that it isn't next gen because the games will still run in current console. but Xbox games will continue to run on future consoles if what we are led to believe its true sorta like pc except you are either gonna stick with the soup version or the one with the better hardware.

I can totally understand if this was a ps4 and pro where I don't expect next gen games to work on.

Goosebumps? These consoles, X1X or PS4Pro are not going to give us too many 60fps experiences which today, really should be standard. The CPU choices for both of these systems was poorly considered. Still, nabbed a Scorpio edition for a bud, upgraded my X1S with larger drive I had laying around, Pro is good for exclusives. Now just waiting till either the Vega 56 or GTX 1080 comes down a bit for the holidays to solve my gaming woes. "Feel True power" videos don't cut it.
