If you read the article, I highlight many of the positives in the game. I don't believe they outweigh the negative, but if you give it a read, I break it down quite fairly.

Sometimes less is more, and I believe this is simply a case of too much content distraction from the game's potential

Persona absolutely gets the treatment of certain games and studios (and nintendo) of getting that buump because if you don't love it, you are a hater. Seems like it was better than average for you. That's fair

Everything's good, other than the combat/dungeons for me. If not for that I would be playing it a hell of a lot more.

I hate it when people get offended by review scores, but damn this score rubs me the wrong way.

I love it but no game is universally liked. So it's his opinion but this late after the game has been played by almost 2 million ppl who cares what he thinks.

I'm not sure how to take the bad comments of people in here. People who buy the game obviously know what they're getting themselves into, People know that you must love anime to get into this...The bad comments came from people who took a very good score like a must buy? think again noobs

Seriously? This game deserve at least an 8. The staggering amount of contents and longevity this game has worth that score alone. Any lower score is just begging for attention and click IMO.

What's the same about each dungeon's story? You say you liked the 1st one & the rest were the same. Explain how?

this game is fantastic IF youre into 'the slice of life' genre. A little too much reading, but thats easy to look past. Characters have so much personality, and the way the game flows feels very natural. A great game imo.

i personally haven't played too many JRPGs in my time yet.

But Persona 5 is a good one i feel that i wanna play soon. However deep down i believe this game's not exactly for anyone except for those who like good JRPGs. So my stance is.
Why get someone whose not a JRPG fan to review a JRPG game when clearly the reviewer is a gamer who prefers other gaming genres.
Also i might add that this type of reviewer reviewing a different genre will most likely be unfavorable to the JRPG fans who are looking for a good JRPG like Digimon: Cyber Sleuth. So to make it favourable is to get someone who loves JRPG games and understands the context of it to review this type of game which is Persona 5.

Looking at the hotness of this page, i felt it be a click bait article with a touch of saying it is an opinion, which frankly is not. And I believe the opinion is a lie and is only created to get the "attention" this site wants.

I'm not going to click the link for a site that would give an amazing game a 6.5/10. I guess that's proof that this website is trash.

I only played Persona 4 for a couple of hours and that's the extent of my time with the series but I've played enough games to know what I like and in terms of how much I liked it and wanted to play more a 6/10 is about right.

You have to admit at least that role playing as Japanese teenagers in a wacky fantasy world isn't for everyone. I enjoy several animes but I wouldn't recommend them to my friends that I know aren't into the genre even if I think they're great.

Right okay, not sure where to start with this one. too long and boring? This was my first Persona game and I loved every second of it, spending time with the characters, the combat, capturing new Personas, exploring Tokyo and just enjoying the story, everyday I was doing something different, either you didn't know what you was doing or didn't care, you mention the school sections were boring but you actually can learn something during the tests and can skip classes when you form a bond with one of the teachers, the pop quiz sections made a nice distraction and the whole point of the game is that you're balancing school with your Persona life and you have to spend your time wisely.

The villains were great and the game carried a decent message. As for the reading it's no way near as bad as other games I've played and the dialogue between characters was never "boring" It does a great job of building relationships and introducing more characters as you play, it never got "stale" or felt redundant, whether I wanted to play video games with Morgana or going shopping with Futaba who's introvert personality slowly develops as you spend time with her, people talk about FFXV doing character bonds well but Persona trumps that easily.. The game is super stylish and the visuals are fine. The anime cut scenes didn't seem out of place either, you're just nit picking here.

The turn based battle system can be heavily customised to suit a play style, and as you say very stylish thanks to the hud, there's plenty of extra unlocks when you spend time with other characters in the game. From start to finish I was lost in this game and racked up around 100 Hours playtime and I didn't max out all my bonds or found all of the personas, it's been a long time since I put that kinda time into a game while balancing a full time job. I could go on longer, you might not have not like the game but I feel the review/score does not reflect the game at all

For me this is easily the GOTY it stands out of everything I've played, the monotonous AAA games we see these day never do much different than look pretty, Persona 5 stood out for me.

Persona 4 is my fave in the series for characters & story. persona 5 aside from Futaba I never connected with the rest much. Story felt a bit directionless but you know what. I didn't care. The gameplay,style and music was so fun. At times the game was so addicting. I really enjoyed the game. Best style and dungeons in the series.

Persona 5 is EASILY the best game this generation. I saw very few flaws with this game.

Im enjoying it but sometimes it gets really tedious. Im 28 hours in though, content has sort of been drip fed. Ill see it through.

Persona 5 is a masterpiece

It's evident some folks that say the game is boring are folks that have no patience or attention span & they're probably the type that doesn't like to read.The game is one hell of a Japanese Role Playing Game, as soon as all the fierce shade started with that shady gym teacher I was in! Scandal after scandal & all that dirt was so intriguing it was like a movie...lol! & the social interacting was so interesting.I loved Persona 5..the flash & style of it all,the production,the amazing Acid Jazz OST including hours & hours of gameplay! P5 is definitely the best Jrpg this generation on the PS4!

It's all about preferences. The majority loved p5, which means he was just one of the minority.

What I find amusing is so many fanboys angry with the score. Its like all gamers should like the same games. Thats just not the case. You could love P5, the next guy could hate it, neither of yous are wrong.

The beginning was kinda slow but it had to be for people to get used to time management and other systems. P5 is the best JRPG ive ever played and ive played plenty. A 6.5 is simply for attention/clickbait.. Everything in it is top notch. If you dont like JRPG's then you wont like this but that doesnt make it a bad game. I dont like shooters but i know a good one when i see it & wouldnt give it a low score because of my own bias

Why can't people handle that a person didn't like the game? They made "improvements" in an area the player didn't think had to be made and it lessened the experience for him. He made many strong cases for the game and gave it a good score, he just felt that there were too many times, it became long in the tooth.

Uncharted 4 got the same critique. Improvements but went on too long. Took away from the experience. Just because you like titles before it, does not mean you are obligated to like the next. And a difference of opinions should be celebrated instead of attacked. It opens the forum for civil discussion. Discussion that may, in fact, sway ones opinion. Or... it can be used to flame that a person is retarded because they don't share your opinion.

I take reviews these days with buckets of salt, I've seen films and Anime rated in the 7.x range which some morons say is bad, and thought they deserved higher scores.. even the odd film in the 6.x range.

In the end it's all subjective, i don't follow the herd like sheep because they are not always right.

So why the overwhelming praise? I don't play these games, but this one was so well received.

This is a game that cannot get under a 8 if you are actual being a real critic. There are games I do not play or "like" that are 8's and 9's due to quality. This is a top 10 game of all time in my opinion, and the pinnacle of JRPG games in modern times. It stands with Chrono Trigger and a few old FF games, among a select few others in the JRPG pantheon.
