The Future will be so cool, like in Caprica Tv series :D

AR has a bigger wow factor, and more implementation in other fields besides gaming.

VR is the significantly better experience right now, because AR tech and demonstrations simply isn't there and cost too much to implement for most consumers (easily 3x - 4x the cost of VR for a similar experience)

AR has more immediate future potential for everyday uses, because it augments what's already there. VR is still an isolated experience for the most part, and won't reach it's peak until we all enter the Matrix.

The best headset for next-gen implements both AR/VR into one easy to use device, without cables running everywhere (which means they need to produce streaming tech on par or better than Nintendo's Wii U).

I would say AR is the best approach and in the future we will have eye implants and so many things that will go with AR

Just wait until we have implants that can project. Talk about a great game of laser tag.

VR can be turned into augmented reality, no problem. You can even do it yourself, there is a ton of information out there for xbox kinect to detect movement and you could relay that to your PC, use something like HDMI to IP to stream your screen to your glasses.
