To me it looks like the God of War game I want after GoW Ascension. I like GoW Ascension, but it started to feel like it was just more of the same

As a huge God of War fan I agree with a lot of his points. It looks like a great game in it's own right but it is not at all what I want from God of War. They are removing so much of what made the original games great. I am really disappointed in a lot of the changes particularly the combat.

I've been saying the same thing. I'm not completely sold on this new GoW just yet. I need to really play it or see alot more. I just prefer the old camera angle and the old Kratos voice actor.

I need to see more gameplay before I judge.

I can't wait to play. It does look to play different but in its own way of course with the axe. Plus we might have been only seeing the beginning stages and later on there might be different weapons.

What's with the sudden negativity with upcoming Sony releases? Yesterday it was Detroit: Become Human, today it's God Of War. You don't start judging a game before it releases with your 'possible worries'. I am myself not excited for these games, but no point in downplaying them, you will not change the minds of people who are gonna buy them, you'll only be caught in backlash. After it releases, if the game is truly not something you like, review it and tell what you don't like the game. Oh and btw this logic also applies for all those bullshit "Why I am Excited for XYZ Game" before any game releases.

I'm​ not gonna lie, I was worried about it after the first reveal. I love these games and this one was so drastically different I didn't know how to take it. The more I see and read about it now the more interested in it I become, thinking about it now I think this was a necessary change that the series needed to grow.

This is a rock solid development team and I have complete faith in whatever they want to pursue. Day one for me, no doubt.

I'm actually glad it has changed. I don't think I would have bought it if it was the same old type of game. This looks fresh but familiar. Hopefully there will be an awesome collectors edition :p

They have taken God of War and turned it into TLoU as Sony appears to be doing with all its first party IPs.

Oh I'm F'n Sold! Honestly if it was more of the same of GOW 1,2,3 I think I would have passed on this, I loved those games but that was long ago.

I completely trust SSM/Barlog but I'm not sold either....and I love GOW.

Something just feels "off" in what I've seen. That and I still get the feeling that they really did just try to shove TLoU into a GOW suit.

Sony is having more games with relationships like this and the last of us where you have a child involved in the story. I like the new direction and it makes for a more realistic approach. Kratos lost his family and now that he has a son it will be interesting to see a different side of him other than the bloodthirsty take no prisoners side we have all been accustomed to seeing. Sony is delivering cinema quality graphics and deep storylines to go with them and we as gamers should just enjoy them for how great they will be.

That's a shame. Game looks fantastic to me as someone who was never really into the series before. The first showing sold me on it so much that I went out and got the original 3 games and have completed the first since.

You seem very concerned about the game being slow, and the axe for that matter. I don't think we've really seen enough to call it an overall slow game. Plus, I think that if it does slow down in moments, it's probably to concentrate a bit more on the characters and narrative. This will certainly create a change of pace from the "I am Kratos and I am full of rage!" arc all the other GoW games had.

I'm fully on board. Cory Barlog has so much passion for the IP,and it really shows whenever he's discussing the game. I'm excited about the maturation of the game, and Kratos as a character. They've already stated that there will be dozens of enemies on screen, and we've gotten a taste for the scale of some of the world's creatures i.e. the world serpent, the screenshot for the article shows a MASSIVE giant, etc... the camera shift provides a more intimate perspective for the story that should help to lend weight to the characters. This is my most highly anticipated game, and like I stated earlier, I'm all in.

Same with last gen they wasn't sold on gow3 simply because its not on pc and not on Xbox. God of war is one of the best exclusives you can have. Its a spectacular game even now show me something as epic as titan battles on steam uplay or origin.

Millions will buy and enjoy this. I hope don't makes more and more exclusive franchises this gen the ps4 is simply brilliant at what it sets out to do

Call me a "fanboy" or whatever, but im extremely underwhelmed of what we saw so far. It looks more like Uncharted/Last of us than anything God of War related. God of War 2&3 are masterpieces and are not about making you feel and engaged with a Story. You got betrayed and want to kill every god is all I need. Some people prefer this washed down version of God of war, but I won't. At least they don't call it God of War 4, so we can take that as a Spinoff and get the real game next time. As soon as I heard Barlog was at the helm I was on board GOW2 is my favorite by a long shot. This guy downplays it but he is an extremely smart dude. This game is gonna be insane.

I really dont get most gamers. Some of you crap all over a 4th iteration of God of war but have no problem buying a 10th iteration of call of duty just because its prettier. The hypocrisy is thick this year.

I am. As much as I love GOW1 and especially GOW2, by the third one the gow formula was getting a bit stale for me and I didn't even buy Ascension. I want to see this new side to Kratos and learn about Norse mythology that I don't know much about.

Because you are not real fans of God of war and don't understand how it's important to improve and try new directions for the character and franchise.

The problem with sequels/prequels is that they are basically the same game as came before. They won't want to change the formula too much for fear of alienating the fans of the previous games.

So it's a brave move to change the tone of GOW like this, hope it pays off :)

I absolutely hate that Kratos, a badass, and a guy that "saves" people by murdering them is now babysitting a little kid.
