I actually can't wait to play this game. I don't think this is controversial at all. Everyone hates things like Westboro Baptist church which is essentially what this is; an evil brainwashed cult. I'm sure there will be some people who can only see it a certain way given today's issues, but all i see, so far, is an interesting and fun game.

What actually bothers me the most,.. Waco was an atrocity by the US government on US soil on Christian population and innocent children (Koresh was a bit of a lunatic in his interpretation of the Bible, but they did not hurt anyone) and I think this game is trying to justify that false narrative.

Just look at the Argument back then that Resident Evil 5 was so super racist to have black enemies in a african setting to which they later caved in.

All I see are articles defending this game against a supposed huge backlash when in reality there is little backlash. Though I bet these same publications defending FC5 are the same ones who called RE5 racist.

The simple fact is that they wouldn't dare make this about Islam. Yes we have killed Muslim terrorists in other games but in those games their religion was never a focus (were they ever even referred to as 'Muslim' in those games?). FC5 devs are going out of their way to make this about Christianity. That's fine with me because I believe everyone should be able to make whatever they want, it's nice that they can do that without having to worry about their offices getting shot up or a vehicle plowing into them or, the classic, suicide bomb.

In one of the shorts, it shows a pastor who IS Christian reading from the Bible about false shepherds. This would represent Christians against the cult.

I think Christians get offended because so often in entertainment, they are made out to look like cooks and crazies. They see this and immediately think that it is happening again. I don't know how much of the story the pastor plays, but it's clearly showing that Ubisoft does not view the cult as normal Christians, but as a whacked out version. Maybe this is a social commentary on Islam, and the factions that cause violence not representing the whole.

Unfortunately, they can't use Islam b/C, well, we know what would happen. It's easier, and safer to use Christianity. One last note. Coming on the back of the recent election, I can see why many would immediately jump to the conclusion that once again, rural America is being portrayed as backwoods, redneck, idiots that hurt ppl.

And while this may not be the crux of Ubi's story, it is what will be the focus of their marketing campaign. As we all know, it isn't what's real, but what is portrayed as real that has the most effect.

This game better get made despite obvious influx of sjw rage over anything that makes people uncomfortable. Far cry for me has always and should always be an uncomfortable fps experience in the sense that the action should be intense and brutal, the subject matter should be controversial and morally confusing and you should be out of your elements. A far cry from home. A far cry from the norm. Don't want to try and get cheesy here but this is the best step in the right direction I've seen this series go in a while. Hoping they deliver and don't give in.

There's a reason why they picked a crazy Christian cult for their first game that deals with religion. It's because if they chose any other religion, they'd have more than a small group of pissed off people to deal with. They know that it will make some mad, but they also know someone is more than likely not going to kill anyone because of it. It was a safe pick for them. Can you imagine if this game was about extremist Muslims and the prophet Muhammad? People would die. Ubisoft would never let them make a game about Muslims. Just like Comedy Central made Trey Parker and Matt Stone censor Muhammad in that one South Park episode some years ago. Far Cry 1 needs a remake BAD

Far Cry 6 is the only game in the franchise I don't like. Did many things that dragged the gameplay down and wasted its villain (not to mention the obvious push for social activism).

I've only ever played the first and second game. First was great but didn't enjoy the second.

FARCRY is a great franchise - but UBI is SOFT !

It took me over a year to beat 6. I still have this on my back log of games. Now is a good time to start. Right after I play GTA5 for the first time since I bought it on PS3, and The Witcher.
