The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy release will not be exclusive to PS4. The Crash PS4 trilogy will be a timed exclusive and may launch on other platforms at a later date.

Well if Activision intends to continue with the franchise, it makes sense that it would be multiplatform to maximised their profits.

Whats so speculative about this:

-PlayStation Ireland has offered clarification on the matter by stating that ''[Crash Bandicoot] will launch on 30th June 2017. To clarify our earlier post, it will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro first.''

Doesn't seem very speculative. That coupled with the original tweet of ''this will be PS4 exclusive.'' being removed suggests much more then mere speculation.

The keyword here is "first". This is a 100% timed exclusive game that will surely be released on PC and probably on xbox and switch consoles down the line.

We all know that Activision is greedy for money, so... I'd keep that in your thoughts. Timed exclusive isn't completely out of the question. If they do in fact decided to release it for PC, Scorpio and Switch, they should do it in the fall right after Scorpio launches.

It is but it won't bother me. The more people get to play it the better. I hope it does well and sells a lot so we can finally get a proper Crash Bandicoot sequel. Whatever activision did with it did not happen.

It was pathetic when MS did it with RotTR and DR, and if Sony has wasted money to block this game coming to the xbone for a limited time, it's just as pathetic.

I would much rather xboners get to enjoy this game (bc lets face it, they need all the games they can get, heh. (sorry, couldn't resist)), and for Sony to use the money used on creating new content.

Its nowhere near as pathetic though. Tomb Raider was made famous in the 90s with the PlayStation brand alone. For Square Enix to come out and say "We are happy with Xbone getting ROTR first because of the great blah blah blah" is pure nonsense.
How can Xbox be considered the home of Tomb Raider in any way when the first 6 games in the franchise literally cannot be played on Xbox consoles in any shape or form? It was a royal screw over to the MAIN fans and that's that.

Xbox fans getting to play the original PS1 Naughty Dog Crash Bandicoot games should be purely grateful of the privilege and that's that. And like you said, they are lucky to be getting another game at all, even if it is later and by Activision of all people.

While I agree it doesn't really matter, you must be insane to think it wasn't a console defining game. I remember the PS1 commercials clear as day and if you had a PS1 then Spyro and Crash were as common a must have as Mario and Zelda.

Hardly lol Okay. For the remake, though it's not that big of a deal.

Yes, 15+ years ago it was exclusive to PS, but since 2000 Crash games have been on other systems including MS, Nintendo, iOS etc

It's hardly synonymous with PS/Sony anymore.

PS get it regardless, more people can possibly enjoy it, Activision sell more and the brand gains more recognition (improving chance for a new game). It's a no brainier for everyone concerned (excluding the obvious bunch).

Yeah a long time ago it was cool. Im not lining up to buy Crash on my Pro. And imo did not have the same impact as Mario or Zelda(even back then) and Spyro became more famous than Crash. Lol...

On a side not I like reading some comments now "its cool if its timed exclusive", before these people would be upset about that. But since its coming to their platform first. Its Ok..Lol.

@Godsmar but it did!

Mario remained a staple on Nintendo consoles and handhelds, Spyro did the same and became even bigger with Skylanders, game and toys. Ratchet and Clank is still awesome platformer.

Crash for whatever reason just did have the staying power.

Sadly those days are long gone. In the sea of contemporary shaite games ... mainly competitive nonsense/F2P (Ego Shooters, MOBAs and every other crpa) ... it won´t have the same impact, as 20 years ago. WE got too many d*mb people "calling themself" gamers ... that only play 1x game or type of game nonstop for years to come (primarily the pc gamer).

Someday in the future, we will reach a point of no return ... either those dipsh**s start diversifying their portfolio or else we might have kids that have absolutely no clue when you mention "Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Mickey Mouse etc..". Somewhat this is already true with some Sony and MS IPs. .. no one remembers games like Croc or MediEvil, hence why we never see a true remake of these games.

Halo in a decline, MC does not have the same pull anymore ... leaves MS with Forza and Gears (and if not mistaken, both have sold subpar). Same will face Nintendo ... they will be known only as the "Pokemon" Makers .. but for how much longer, til Pokemon too loses all potential/hype.

START PLAYING MORE GAMES YOU YOUNG FUKCS! Less pewpew / kill/ kill ... and more fungames, capiche?! 20 years ago ... the market was a lot better, PC was on the arise with 3DFX and everyone was happy (remember when the PC didnt get any ports at all?!)

The PC back then had only exclusives, games selling 7mill. on the PS1 alone or 15mill. copies of The Sims/Diablo2 on the PC ... WITH a market that´s allegedly much smaller than it is now. How come are publishers not selling more copies nowdays?! IF the market is bigger ... thankfully we got the Indie Scene, but i wish they would start and come up with their own ideas instead of committing plagiarisms (Mario/Metroid etc. Clones from S/NES era).

You honestly consider Skylanders a platformer? Likewise Mario is a stable IP on a brand that's largely been written off by the Xbox and PS crowd. Still, mention the Plumber and gamers come running. Mario Galaxy was the exception to the COD rule, be even then it came out two console gens after platformers where largely abandoned.

Platforming may be seeing a resurgence as the market gets tired of realism, but we're not even talking about new IPs. Its all reboots and remakes.

It has a pretty big nostalgia factor, and most of that will be with old-school PS gamers, or those who enjoy video game history.

I don't think it's really a PS4 defining game though. Crash hasn't been a PS icon for a while now...but I will admit I'd love to see Sony resurrect the commercials. Maybe not quite as harsh...something more along the lines of how they trolled sometimes with Kevin Butler.

Sony owns the licence to all PS1 Crash games so Activision can't make it multiplaform unless PlayStation sell the licence.

I'm still not convinced. Released exclusively could have some wriggle room for later ports to other platforms. Sony never said it was fully exclusive either and the tweet that said it was has been deleted. Whether it goes to xbox or not I don't know but I think it will go to other platforms.

Its pretty simple. They have to say that under certain agreements. It is in fact set, as in with a date, to be released exclusively on the ps4. However...afterwards it can also be set to release on other platforms exclusively on those unknown dates.

Sony published the original FF7, so it's not coming to another console ever. When they say play it first on PS4, it really means it's coming to PC later.

Other consoles will not get it.

I doubt there is anything stipulating that Sony can't announce it on other platforms. But if they're paying for timed or full exclusivity, why would they? Makes no sense to undermine their marketing. Same goes for MS.

The publisher typically gives up any comment on the game because the marketing is taken over by another party.

Them saying "first" doesn't always mean other consoles. With PS, it can often mean coming to PC some months later.

Things like FFVII, Sony has console publishing rights with the oriignal, and that may extend to the remakes, although that seems a stretch.

That's the line they give to developers to say, but it's the publisher that decides that and has likely already decided it without informing the developers. Not saying he's not right, only that it doesn't really shed any light on whether it will or won't be exclusive.
