They just look like Xbox controllers ugh... Those people couldn't just think of something else. And how could Sony licence this rippoff? Well at least it is just eSport

Gazondaily2737d ago

Imitation is a sincere form of falafery.

How will some people on here contend with non symmetrical analog sticks? The impression I got from some people on here is that playing with that made you end up like this:

YEA SEPTIC EVERYONE SAID THAT

darthv722737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

The 360 controller is a hell of a controller to copy from. Very comfortable. I never liked using the symmetrical PS sticks for long periods of time but never had a problem with xbox ones. It may be the rubber toppers the DS sticks use as they tend to get gummy unlike other controllers.

Many don't understand the reasoning that sony used to make the original DS1. They were already invested in the PS1 controller layout when they realized they could add in the sticks to the extra space towards the bottom. Analog was an afterthought, and instead of reworking the controller layout they just added on. it was a very easy way to get the job done. Easy does not always mean best or more efficient / comfortable.

with analog control becoming more of a standard, it is the reason why other controllers put the primary stick in the top position. it is what would be used most for movement in a 3d space. Sega, Nintendo and MS all did this and the controllers are better for it.

BossBattle2737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

I never liked having my left thumb so far down. Most people even have their left thumb higher than the right when holding a cell phone. It's just natural. I might get the Nacon.

kitsune4512737d ago

I had one of the Razer controllers for Xbox. After a few months the thumbstick would start drifting to the left. I got a replacement from Razer and a few months later had the same thing happen. Since then I never buy third party controllers.

InTheZoneAC2737d ago

google falafery please, come back with results

Aenea2737d ago

Yeah, not interested in the Nacon for that reason alone, the Razer Raiju could be nice tho!

Sparta072737d ago

@septic, no. some people just don't like it, like myself. So I would never buy that controller.
I know is crazy people have different opinion then you. How dare they!!!!!

gangsta_red2737d ago

Why do these companies keep making controllers with non symmetrical thumb sticks? Don't they know some people can't do separate different actions on each hand unless they are perfectly aligned with each other?

NewMonday2737d ago

some people are just comfortable with specific controller layouts, and the non symmetrical analog sticks is something millions grow up with, about time they got catered for.

also a classic small size DS4 would be great for young kids for the small hands.

kraenk122737d ago

You try too hard septic.

Utalkin2me2737d ago

Razer all the way, hands down.

Godz Kastro2737d ago

I'm sorry but non symmetrical is the way to game. Borderline fact!

Erik73572737d ago

Im with darthv, symmetrical analog layout is outdated and inferior. I see sony saw that and reasoned with doing non symmetrical analog sticks to their pro controller.

SniperControl2737d ago

Jesus Christ! both are monstrosity's, both look like hill billy off spring of the DS4 and X1 controller.

Nah, think i'll stick with the best controller out there, the DS4 by miles.

game4funz2737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

Agreed. They're useless... It's as not symmetrical therefore most Playstation gamers convinced that the PS controller is the best won't be able to use these very well. Well some of these. Must be abhorrent.

But wait no. Just like the Nintendo switch pro controller these controllers have nothing to do and are definitely not following the Xbox controller route.

CKPan2737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

My controller history is 360 then DS4,
360 is good, but DS4 is better,
why? symmetrical sticks!
360 left stick, yes, easier to push forward, but you always put too much, more than enough force on your left thumb, couple hours later, my thumb hurts.
DS4 I never experience such thing, DS4 is a better controller, or symmetrical sticks are better layout.

Babadook72737d ago

@Darth

The only good things about the 360 controller are the MANY aspects they copied from the dual shock.

Angeljuice2737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

It's not that people can't cope with asymmetrical sticks, just that they don't feel as natural or comfortable.

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Scuf must be feeling very flattered by Microsoft and the Pro controller.

Personally I want a controller made entirely of aluminium. I'm thinking of taking a ds4 to a local engineering company and see if they can use a CNC machine to produce one.

BTW it is called 'asymmetrical' not 'non-symmetrical'.

@blacktar

"YEA SEPTIC EVERYONE SAID THAT"

No, Septic said SOME people. You're the one that said everyone.

The fact you have more than one agree is what is truly sad and says a lot for a certain fanbase.

I for one want an Xbox style controller, but I won't buy these because THEY'RE NOT WIRELESS. WTF, invest in a wireless controller and maybe some of us will bite.

Cryptcuzz2737d ago

It is designed with e-sports in mind where there can be hundreds of controllers in one location. What does that do? Jack with the wireless connection via so many dang interference from other devices. Thats is probably why they went with wired instead.

Omnislashver362737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

IMO the main market looking for one of these controllers is far larger. Also, you can always choose to attach a wireless controller yourself if you're pro. This is just lazy design.

Everyone who wants a wireless version of these controllers, click their contact button and ask for one!

UnHoly_One2737d ago

Same here. I was excited to see one with the Xbox stick layout and then I found out it's not wireless.

Still... I'll likely buy one. Anything is better than the DS4.

Omnislashver362737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

@unholy

I'm looking into using an Xbox controller on PS4. The 'Titan One' is a wireless controller adapter that allows you to connect one as long as you have a regular PS4 controller attached to it for authentication. The problem is, you have to connect the DS4 first, and I'm not sure if you have to press a button on the 'Titan One' to get it to sync with the Xbox controller. It would get annoying to get up and press the button everytime to get it to sync.

Count_Bakula2737d ago

Same, I like the spacing of the sticks better. I'd like to get it, but it's probably an asinine $100+

Angeljuice2737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

They are wired for faster response times.
It isn't "lazy design" at all, it is designed for a specific purpose.

UnHoly_One2737d ago

Omnislash, I've thought about trying one of those adapters that let you use an Xbox controller, but even if it works perfectly you are screwed if you want to play any game that uses that stupid touchpad.

Which seems to be almost every exclusive game (the only games I play on PS4), since Sony likes to force their gimmicky crap into everything.

Omnislashver362736d ago (Edited 2736d ago )

@AngelJuice

Way to completely ignore my post. They CAN do wireless and still use USB to attach a controller for pros. They can have both, easy as day. It's LAZY design.

@UnholyOne

Damnit, you're correct. I think the adapter allows use of both controllers though, so perhaps you can just use the touchpad on the DS4 for certain parts(if you have a USB that goes to your couch) and then switch back to the Xbox controller.

I see your point though, it's way inefficient.

ninsigma2737d ago

Well one of them is the traditional ps button layout but certainly neither of them are very pleasing aesthetically. I'll happily stick with my 20th anniversary controllers over these. It's a shame.

lastking952737d ago

The raiju looks good but its almost an exact copy of the xo controller but with ps4 features. Triggers, bumpers, shape even the audio buttons

ninsigma2737d ago

I don't see a massive similarity to the xbox controller besides the button layout tbh. They're till different enough I think. If I were to get one I'd go for the raiju but that wire would turn me off it a bit as well as it's probably just as over priced as the elite (which was a much needed improvement over the og xbox one controller imo but not worth what I spent on it).

NXSwitch2737d ago

lmfao, I am not surprised at all on Sony accepting copy cat ideas. They are king at copying Nin since the SNES & this goes to show Sony is still hungry to eat anything.

ColonelHugh2737d ago

Sony's first controller WAS an evolution over the SNES controller, this much is true. But the controller design they shipped the PlayStation with was essentially the same ergonomic redesign that they actually had built for Nintendo's unreleased SNES peripheral (also made by Sony) before Nintendo's retrospectively ill-advised move to Phillips brand.

FloydianAndroid2737d ago

Well of your gonna rip off a controller design Xbox one is the way to go. Best controller ever.

Inzo2737d ago

Well any console controller with analogue stick is a rip-off of Playstation.

XanderZane2737d ago

Hhmmm.. no. The first re-centering analog stick for a home game console was the Vectrex which was released in 1982. Even SEGA in Sept 1995 released an analog "Mission Stick" for their Sega Saturn. It wasn't until 1997 when Sony released their PS1 with dual analog sticks. Even Nintendo released a analog stick for their N64 in June 1996. Sony ripped off other analog controllers, They weren't first.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

ColonelHugh2737d ago

@XanderZane
maybe he meant dual analog sticks

Inzo2737d ago

@XanderZane

Hmmmmmm... Sorry but you are comparing apples and oranges, those were a joysticks and they were hand held, why you would even compare the mission stick to analog is perplexing in it self. Sony patented the dual analog before Nintendo released their controller hence the centre analog.

Erik73572737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

Loveing it. Hope all ps4 controllers are like it in the near future. Symmetrical analog layout is outdated.

S2Killinit2737d ago (Edited 2737d ago )

I like that these arent actually developed by Sony. I feel MS's strategy can lead to underperforming controllers meant to entice people to dish out 160 dollars to get a decent controller in the future. With Sony's approach i feel more confident that the controllers provided by them wont be gimped just so that Sony can sell the proper controller to me at a cost.

Having said that I look forward to these new controllers to see if they merrit getting one.

KwietStorm_BLM2737d ago

There's nothing wrong with the controllers. Absolutely nothing. If your one complaint is they look like Xbox controllers, then we see what the real issue is, clearly.

Nitrowolf22737d ago

Not a big fan of the 1st one, but the 2nd one is very similar to the Xbox controller, which many have ever requested a controller.

I can see why here offering two though, so that's cool

wtchytbe2737d ago

These controllers are like SONY praising XBOX. Good to have friendly, healthy competition.

KwietStorm_BLM2737d ago

Sony didn't even make them.

ILostMyMind2737d ago

This comment is like a fanboy cajoling Microsoft.

zeal0us2737d ago

I'll buy the second one to replace my Hori FPS Pad

aksmashh2737d ago

Look good!!

Wish they were wireless tho

InMyOpinion2737d ago

No pro gamers would want it then.
