Falls far behind a PS4? I thought Nintendo would have wised-up since the Wii U how are they going to get third party developer support if it isn't powerful enough?

BullyMangler2770d ago

nintendo sweats anything sony does ?

lol

2pacalypsenow2770d ago

Thats not necessarily true.. The 3DS gets a lot of support and both divisions merged.. Its possible that they get 3rd party but they'll be smaller budget titles.. Indies too..

[Thats not necessarily true.. The 3DS gets a lot of support and both divisions merged.. Its possible that they get 3rd party but they'll be smaller budget titles.. Indies too..]

Exactly, this could do exactly what the OUYA & PlayStation TV tried and failed , to do..the fact is if this is indeed True, I would say Nintendo would be swimming in 3Rd party support..Especially the developers that are Nvidia shield, or mainly smartphone & Smart device's developers ..that means like developers that use Unity3D..that pool is like over 360,000 development pool!

And I think with Nintendo taking a 3DS concept for the Big screen TV mode with a mobile chipset that has quite a bit of umph...it may just be the ticket, Nintendo's needed for 3rd party Living room console support.

It may not be the Hardcore PC and console system 3rd party developers & publishers that mainly make only software for mainly current Sony & Microsoft console systems & PC ports from large 3rd party developers .

But a Well experienced 3rd party Smart device and Mobile Publisher group of developers may infact see this as an opportunity to expand their software stakes.

I think many again are only looking at this defined on what Sony & Microsoft is doing and not as what Nintendo is trying or may infact be trying to do.

jmc88882769d ago

Yes but if the Wii U had support for 3ds titles, do you think the average Wii U user would of played them at home on the tv?

I know I never would of bought any. It would of been a useless feature to me on the Wii U. Just like I never would of bought Vita games on the PS3/PS4 if given the option.

Both divisions merging means nothing. All it means is that both segments will be on the same device. They are still making two different style of games. The handheld style game and the console style game.

If you are only interested in console style games, and many people are, then adding in the handheld library does jack and schmidt to the value of the NX to this person.

Indies are everywhere. Not a selling point unless you don't have access to them somehow.

For all of this reality there is one segment that will absolutely love the NX. Those that generally buy Nintendo's handheld and consoles. Those few million people will love the NX. The people who buy the Nintendo handheld (but not usually the console) will like the NX. Everyone else... which is the vast majority of the gaming market not so much.

I highly doubt this pulls in many people currently getting free games on a device they already own for other reasons (phones). No more than just the natural tendency for gamers as kids to play something and move on up to the next thing which already happens without NX.

81BX2769d ago

I think youre missing the point. This seems to be a hand held that can be used on your tv as well. It appears to be very strong. This isnt meant to be a home console only

miyamoto2769d ago

Breath of the Wild graphics is a good indication of the NX's power. Compare that game's graphics to Gravity Rush 2 and you will know the difference.

2769d ago
Killz4Twinkies2769d ago

Sounds like they are going after a different market than what Ps4/XB1 go after, and at the same time offer people a solid second solution if you already own a ps4/xb1

jholden32492769d ago

Well again, that's a lost cause so why chase it? Those games have a market and it's not going to shift to Nintendo. Sony and MS gamers aren't gonna STOP BUYING their games on PS4/X1 to buy them on NX. And Nintendo gamers have proven time and again they have no interest.

Besides, lots of games still came to PS4-PS3 and X1-360. Proving power isn't an obstacle as some think it is. And if it's more powerful than Wii U it'll be even less an obstacle than it was porting to PS3/360. The issue is demand, not power. Always has been. Always will be. Regardless of the PR spin developers will tell you. They care about money. And if there's demand, you can believe they'll port their game, one way or another.

GameCube. Strongest console of the generation, lowest in sales. Barely outperformed Wii U. Nintendo did exactly what you and many others here ask. And it turned into a Wii U situation for them. Yet you claim that's the reason it's going to fail? GameCube proved that what you're asking does NOTHING to help it succeed. Because the market for those games is PS/Xbox, and all the power in the world won't shift the market to Nintendo.

So I understand what they're going for. They need games you can't get on PS4/X1. Wii U had that and yet people didn't care. So they're adding some incentive to the package now. Buy one console, get both handheld and TV console play out of it. That would cost you $500-600 in the PS ecosystem but if NX can launch at like $250? Who wouldn't wanna do that? And crossbuy and cross save for every title, built right in. Even Sony can't do that.

Unless a person ONLY cares about multiplats and has zero interest in playing anything different than what their PS4/X1 has to offer, but if that's the case Nintendo was never gonna be an option for that person anyways. But for those who like Nintendo games, and the 3rd party exclusives they get (which is a crapload on handheld), or for PS/Xbox gamers who want something like the Vita only 1) more powerful 2) plays on TV also 3) has Nintendo games and Nintendo platform 3rd party exclusives, this could be a tempting proposition.

But I imagine people will judge and crucify it based solely on how many teraflops it boasts, since that's apparently the only thing that matters in video games nowadays.

Lol one gen behind again
RIP 3rd party support again

Hoffmann2769d ago

Yeah...the Nintendo of the past is dead.

Maybe they should advertise their systems completely as toys for kids

Phunkydiabetic12769d ago

It died two decades ago when the N64 launched my friend. Nintendo has had two decades to stop fucking around and here they are again.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2769d ago

Let's see. Dragon Quest XI, Sonic 2017, Ubisoft and KOEI Tecmo confirmed support.

Maybe you should wait for it's first year before started such thing out your ass

SweatyFlorida2769d ago (Edited 2769d ago )

Sorry but idk why people bring up these games like it means shit. Sonic on nintendo console? WOW, never thought I'd see the day... Ubisoft has always been friendly with nintendo systems, from rayman to raving rabbits and obviously just dance. Dragon quest, japanese game, ok, same with Koei making mostly japanese games. They are not big in the west.

None of the western big cheese's have confirmed actual big bombs for nx, and simply having a game in the launch window/year doesn't mean they will continue support, like how lots of wii u developers dropped it immediately after seeing the lack of sales of the console. When people say 3rd party support they mean big western 3rd party games.

2769d ago
jmc88882769d ago (Edited 2769d ago )

Ubisoft supported the Wii U very well, until it abandoned it because they were losing money on it.

So they decided to do this again, but with limits. So in other words, the Wii U is looking like a better 3rd party support machine then the NX.

They didn't talk about the next Far Cry on it, or watch dogs, or splinter cell, or assassin's creed. (3 of those 4 series had a Wii U version). They also had their 'special' game for it, Zombi U. Plus their kid games like Rabbids.

They talked about another 'special' game, but then also only mentioned Just Dance, and Rabbids.

They didn't say For Honor (which ran like crap on the PS4 Alpha fwiw). Or Wildlands. Or even South Park.

Also the whole 'wait for it's first year' angle isn't really smart. Because the Wii U got pretty good 3rd party support in it's first year, and then it dropped like a rock. The first year of the NX looks to get even less, and it may also drop like a rock after that.

Even the Wii U got Call of Duty Blops II, and it was one of the best uses that came out for the gamepad, the ability to not only use a pro controller, but set the gamepad in your lap to call down the killstreaks quickly and accurately. But only one. We'll see if NX even gets one.

EA had planned even a Battlefield game on it.

So that's also a warning. Whatever they say they will bring out, they may not even do that. Just like Battlefield and some other stuff on the Wii U that was announced but never delivered.

Overall, we have to see what gets announced with the NX, but with the first 3rd party, the one that supported the Wii U the most, it looks like they've scaled back their NX involvement compared to what it was with the Wii U. That's not a good sign.

Allsystemgamer2769d ago

And both of those companies supported the wii u and that turned out so great.

MasterCornholio2769d ago

I don't mean to be a dick but let's see what happens to 3rd parties after a year. I mean we all know what happened to the Wii U.

_-EDMIX-_2769d ago

Um....those are not really stellar line ups bud. Mind you, how long? That doesn't really mean jack, did Ubisoft stay with Wii U last gen?

Sorry but it sounds like they are merely jumping on the launch and playing a wait and see after. Call me with EA or Activision states they are bringing all their titles to NX.

No they aren't one gen behind, they're no part of the typical generations anymore. its a hybrid not a gen 8 home console. It's sounding very effing powerful for a hybrid also. Imagine what N can do with a TFLOP

LOL_WUT2769d ago

According to you guys they have billions in the bank so why be cheap? ;)

babadivad2769d ago

This doesn't say anything about how powerful the NX will be. Nit from the actual leak from Foxconn at least.

_-EDMIX-_2769d ago

lol, yes. I don't disagree, but maybe they will be fine considering its foremost a handheld.

lmao

2pacalypsenow2770d ago

How did you get that from my comment "Pass"

BullyMangler2770d ago (Edited 2769d ago )

bellow, you will find a group of thirsty goombas that mistake gaming with saLes.

Like saying that Justin Bieber is better than your favorite artist, just because he has more saLes ?

goooombas (:

Still waiting for sony or micro get an exclusive

that is more over the top

than Bayonetta 2, for wiiU.

p.s. Playstation 4 Sales figures wont change the FACT that wiiU is kicking ass with higher quality exclusives than the competitors .. .

sony ponies ):

2769d ago
badz1492769d ago (Edited 2769d ago )

@bullymangLer

right now, if they look up, Sony is looking at the sky, MS is looking at Sony. but if they look down, they will both see Nintendo.

the "FACT" that you were talking about is obsolete. both Sony and MS don't even consider Nintendo as a competitor anymore in the console space. now, THAT's a FACT!

Lionalliance2769d ago

Can you make any sense at all?

2pacalypsenow2769d ago

dude no one gives a rats ass about nintendo anymore

Allsystemgamer2769d ago

Nintendo hasn't been relevant in years.

ape0072769d ago (Edited 2769d ago )

dude the playstation brand is destroying nintendo since its inception, that's why you nintendo fanboys are so salty from sony

look nintendo development studios are legendary no question but their management f***** sucks,

I feel like if the NX fails Ninty will bow out of console race and just stick to mobile/Handheld single gaming.

Movefasta19932769d ago

Or they could release their software to consoles and PC.

NotEvenMyFinalForm2769d ago

they won't release their games on consoles or PC, they are too arrogant.

ColonelRex2769d ago

They will probably just sell out to microsoft just like Sega sold out to nintendo. You know for a fact that microsoft is gonna put themselves first in line with a real big check.

_-EDMIX-_2769d ago

Soon.

I'm calling that is very, very likely. Nintendo is basically wasting BILLIONS on something that isn't even making that much money for them. They might want to just save themselves the headache and just got 3rd party.

GhostTurtle2769d ago (Edited 2769d ago )

@NotEven

Other consoles? Hell no! Youre right about that but I can see them going PC. Set up their own platform like EA did, friend codes, ect...

MasterCornholio2769d ago

They can always do something different and stick to making hybrid systems. I believe thats what they want to do with the NX.

jmc88882769d ago (Edited 2769d ago )

The NX basically already is that. (if the rumors are true).

It's a handheld that hooks up to a HDTV, and because their consoles games are made at such a low graphical level (resembling ten years ago but at 720p and sometimes 1080p) and complexity, their console games can run on a handheld.

By not investing in making AAA modern games with their IP's, they have allowed mobile tech to play their premium console games. So they are trying to turn a massive negative into a plus, but it doesn't matter, if mobile gaming is of no use to you.

But it is basically just a mobile/handheld system, if the rumors are true.

andibandit2769d ago (Edited 2769d ago )

At this point theres hardly
any difference

_-EDMIX-_2769d ago

Whos to say that isn't NX right now? Something is telling me its foremost a handheld with the ability to out to the TV with a docking station.

I think their next platform will merely be a handheld with a port to play on the TV if you feel like it. As of right now, this sorta is them bowing out of the dedicated console market anyway.

All that I've read has pointed to this being a handheld first.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos3h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto2h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger881h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).
