I like the idea of a hybrid console however the detachable controllers bother me.

I was expecting a handheld that you can dock and connect to a HDTV and then you can use a normal controller to operate it.

So in a nutshell, its like the wii u but you can take the more practical gamepad with you anywhere & it uses carts like the 3DS does.. Oh well, i always appreciate their 1st party so i really dont care about specs.. No BC I guess so ill need to keep my wii u on another TV.. While I could very see that being the case for developers of PC to console 3rd party developers & Publishers.

Any publishing & Development 3rd party for mobile, maybe very interested in development for this system..now but the main caveats of mobile power limitations that you find in Mobile or Tablet gaming, Nintendo's 3DS 3rd party developers , now have a much stronger platform to target their game wares on..not to mention now it will provide a way for their games to translate to the big screen with little to no long in the tooth additional development time to triangle.

Being able to now leverage 3DS development pool of 3Rd party with a system that now caters to their strong development experience with Mobile chipsets may open up this platform to more 3rd party developers , not less!

Now those would mainly be Mobile only , pretty much , but there is a rather large pool of development talent in the mobile space.

Think everyone should wait until it's announced officially as it's not the same foxconn employee that provided true stuff about the PS4 slim etc.

I hope it's at least more powerful than the Wii U even though it's going to be sub-PS4. I want Breath Of The Wild in 60fps.

It's a really smart move considering that in Japan, handled consoles are really popular. I'm pretty excited to see how all of this will work and if it will actually be a good handled device (unlike the Vita, its joysticks made it pretty annoying to travel with imo) and a good home console. But I fear that it will be a mediocre home console and a mediocre handled...

Nintendo wont have a lot of third party support for sure with that console, so they really need to pump out more quality games. Two or three good games per year for a console is not really attractive.

I think if you switch your perspective on the NX, your opinion of it will change. It doesn't mean you personally will buy it, but your opinion will improve.

It is the successor to the 3DS and will be the most powerful truly supported portable system ever. If it is basically the XBOX ONE in a 3DS size, then that is absolutely amazing. The XBONE is humongous. Due to how this generation will work, the XBOX One will be the lowest common denominator and all multiplats will be playable and decent, meaning they will be on this too.

I am totally fine with this. Looks like Nintendo will get all the Nintendo goodness of TWO SYSTEMS - Wii U and 3DS - put onto ONE SYSTEM, and get most multiplats.

[@joeorc Sure, they might be successful if they manage to tap the mobile/casual market, but a mobile that also plays on a big screen will be necessarily more expensive to produce than a regular box that just outputs to your TV like ps4 and xbox (assuming the same power). It simply costs more to make things smaller whilst maintaining the power of something bigger. So in essence, we're trading power for portability, much like we traded power for a second screen with the Wii U. It might be a success, I just wish it was something different personally, something they haven't done since Gamecube.]

100% agree about it can be more expensive, that is depends on what chipset and other such hardware, good thing is single board Systems are getting cheaper though..anyway , I think that Nintendo wants to take the chance.

With the amount of money mobile can make on a daily basis, Nintendo may be infact looking to expand into such a dynamic..The mobile market is along the same dynamics as many mimic the old arcade model..but unlike arcades no game Save's, and replay by insert another .25 to $1.00 per play..

That's why I tend to see this can be very lucrative enough for Nintendo to go this route, even though Pokémon Go lost a number of players, there is still millions playing such, and since they have invested stock in the company that makes the game that partnership is proving valuable no doubt in a metric they can build on.

The formula can net big returns or bottom out , but the only way you can know for sure is to try it..and maybe Nintendo may see it as an opportunity, for them that is untapped for Nintendo properties.

Another attempt at a blue ocean methodology on the game console market, unlike with the Wii this has I think more of a chance due to Nintendo's Mobile efforts have been in one area where they seem to do rather well despite the competition.

I've learned to hold my breath on any Nintendo console. I really do hope the NX does well because I would like to play some Nintendo games again. However I'm not about to waste money on a console with no third party support, waiting several months for one game to release at a time. I'll withhold my final judgement until it's a officially revealed by Nintendo.

people need to realize that the guy who leaked these isnt the same guy who leaked the sony leaks. Ths wiiU game pad was 480p screen looked impressive. Now on the NX it will obviously look even better. Now people are forgetting that this device comes with a dock to upscale to 1080p for your tv. A portable with the power close to the x1 is impressive. Better than a Psvita and those looking for a dedicated gaming device on the go this is it. Psvita has support from indies and many japanese developers so its the only system the western audience has.

It's Infinitely amusing how a lot of commenters act personally betrayed when venting their frustrations about how Nintendo wont fall in line with Sony and Microsoft. Yes we get it you grew up and you want them to change their business strategy to match your newfound "hardcore" tastes but wake up, we all know the audience that keeps them alive are the children and nostalgic adults who adore Nintendo's characters and their vibrant, whimsical worlds and because of this for better or worse they moderate and censor the crap out of everything and avoid implementing features that would lead to a hostile gaming environment (in-game chats). A full blown online multiplayer community feature like PSN or XBL seems like a reach for them so even if they came in with the power they would still be torn to shreds over their online community. Ever since they took the fork in the road with the Wii they have dedicated themselves more to the experience of the games (aka Gimmicks) to two successes (Wii, DS-3DS) and 1 commercial failure (Wii U). So here we are with a new system and they still aren't falling in line so hardcore gamers are whining about them not doing what they want but its time to face the fact that the system is probably not for you. Whether or not Nintendo is making the right choice remains to be seen and I could honestly care less if they succeed or fail in the console space, if they fail, great maybe their IPs will branch out to more platforms like Sega, If it succeeds, great I'll buy it as i prefer their games anyways. I can choose to get all pissy and pull my support from Nintendo but guess what i'm just gonna be replaced by 3 new 7 year old gamers who got tired of playing candy crush and want something more.

Interesting piece of info, if true! Although we must all take account of the information we have been fed and how people could come up with a theory from this info. My own instinct says people have got close to the real nature of the nx, but my gut instinct says this is not just a system but a piece of software /app also, that could allow games to play on phones tables as long as the base unit/nx is purchased, and therfore scale to said hardware if agreed.

Release great exclusives and i will buy it, that's why i always want Nintendo devices, for the exclusives. If you have more than one gaming device, it's way better to invest on NX than a Xbox, what's the point to have a device without exclusives If you already have another systems?

Well, if this is true, I'm not interested. I wanted a console that competes with MS/Sony's offerings, not some weird is-it-a-handheld-is-it-a-conso le thing that sounds like it's barely better than the WiiU in specs.

If you are reading this and you own PS4 or Xbox One, you know good and well you're not gonna buy another console for the same exact games you already have. You're not gonna buy NX to play the next Assassin's Creed- you're gonna play on your PS4 Pro or Scorpio! Am I wrong?

So why would you care about western AAA on NX if you know you're just gonna keep playing them on PS4/X1? You should care about what NX offers you that you don't already have- different games you can't currently play. Exclusives. Am I wrong?

And NX, at worst, will have a combined 1st party library from both handheld and console 1st party developers as Nintendo shifts toward supporting a single platform rather than 2. So, like combining the Wii U and 3DS 1st party libraries together. And the combined 3rd party support of both Wii U and 3DS. If you added up those two systems libraries, you'd have more games than PS4/X1. And, almost every single one of them is something you can't play on PS4/X1. So the added value is huge.

I get that it won't be for everyone, but if you're a Nintendo only gamer this should be twice the value of 3DS or Wii U, since it does both (and 3DS is one of the greatest platforms of all time), and if you're not a Nintendo gamer this is all added value of games you can't currently play. Both groups stand to gain quite a bit here.

So, the rumors are true, the console/hybrid is going to be in between the X1 and PS4 originals.

If it's coming with the Tegra X2 like it's rumored to be. I can see it delivering PS4 like graphics. Also the description is somewhat off. It's saying the docking station has a cartridge slot but no CPU/GPU. While the portable screen has the internals but I guess no cartridge slot. I think this description is a bit of a dud.

Seriously..I realize that people have low expectations for the next Nintendo console due to the last two technically being under-powered compared to other consoles available at the time, but you would think people would be smart enough to dismiss rumors that state the NX is very under-powered compared to the PS4 when games that are still in production for PS4 have been announced officially to be arriving on NX as well. Dragon Quest XI, Project Sonic 2017, Just Dance 2017, Project Cars, Rise: Race the Future. Plus it isn't the same Foxconn leaker that released the PS4 PRO info. If you put what little info we do have up against this rumor it doesn't hold up at all. But as always, believe what you will.

Why don't Nintendo just make this their 3DS replacement handheld, and make a separate dedicated home console? Imagine Sony joining the Vita and the PS4. Not a good sight.

I believe this to be one big lie. If it was from a Foxconn employee they would not have a scetch they would have pictures or the blue print just like when they leak the iPhone details. if the NX is $250 or higher it might be too expensive for handheld gamers i remember back in 2011 when the 3DS was $250 it wasn’t selling units so Nintendo had to lower the price to $179,99 so the NX might be too too expensive for handheld gamers and too weak for home console gamers so both handheld and home console gamers won't be happy about that.
