so you think aaa games will not be possible at 4k on scorpio? whatever you say. i think i will leave it to the professionals, not those who are constantly pessimistic about the system. the ps4 is slightly more powerful than the xbox one and it does higher resolutions on average better. scorpio will be 4x the power of the xbox one, i think that will be plenty to push 4k in a closed box. if one was to compare the ps4 innards to a pc many would not think it would do graphics like we have seen so far in games like uncharted 4 but it can. that is called making good use of the dedicated hardware.

i guarantee games like the next forza in 2017 will be in 4k and 60fps for scorpio and 1080p on xbox one s (i think by them the orginal xbox one will be discontinued in favor of the new slim). third party may not make the most use of scorpio or may do 1080p and 60 frames per second, that's up to them but microsoft studios will be going after 4k.

Yeah I absolutely think that not all games will run at 4k/60 fps even on Scorpio hardware. But if you read on you'll see that I said 'not all' AAA games will shoot for 4k. Never said that there are games that are incapable of it, just that devs will make the choice that Spencer plainly said he gave them, that 4k is not a mandate & devs can use that power however they'd like. Obviously there will be plenty of stuff at 4k, but if you are going to "leave it to the professionals" & not the "pessimists", the professionals themselves are saying the exact same thing. Spencer has said that he will be leaving it up to devs as to whether or not they go 4k, which means it isn't a strict mandate, which means that not all devs will favor 4k over performance or effects.

I mean what would be the ultimate point of forcing or choosing 4k if it means making concessions in other areas (which it most assuredly will eventually)? Considering by the time the Scorpio rolls out there will only be less than 10% of households possessing a 4k television, wouldn't devs be better off focusing their work on making the best possible looking & performing game at 1080 or 1440 over taking a more underwhelming performance & visuals hit just to hit a target that many of its users can't even fully appreciate?

If you read the first sentence of my comment I plainly said that racers like Forza would absolutely hit that target but something like QB that needed to make resolution concessions in order to dial up their effects will still be a likely issue as these devs move on from the old models & target the new. Hardware is still fixed & devs will still squeeze every last ounce of power out of any box they work on when that hardware is fixed.

Spencer himself said 4k is what they are shooting for in most instances, but not all, which is the right move. Not sure why you'd want otherwise. Resolution is great, but if the base game suffers to hit that mark then that's an issue.

you said most games aside from indies and racing/sports games. let's face it, you don't have a clue what you are talking about and none of us have the full details of the hardware yet. yet you just can't help yourself being pessimistic and negative as much as possible. yet do we see this same attitude when it comes to the ps4 neo from you? so just stop and move on and talk about the ps4 because that is what interests you, we get it, you don't have much faith in anything ms shows or says. that's ok, then go away.

why not just say it sounds like project scorpio is going to be very powerful and its wonderful developers ahve this extra headroom to work with instead of "well it won't do this and it won't do that and blah blah blah". you just can't help yourself though can you?

it's because you keep shooting for the lowest common denominator. he says in most instances, you say mostly just indies and sports games. you are such a hlf empty galss type of person when it comes to ms/xbox but the complete opposite when it comes to ps4 and ps4 neo. enough already.

sit back, relax, be excited, and stop trying to lower other peoples expectations because you don't have trust with ms. there is plenty to focus on with the ps4 and ps4 neo and you already said the project scorpio went down as the worst unveil in history. so why can't you stop talking about it then?

That idea is what caused halo 5 to lose split screen, and also might have toned down the graphics. The engine was tied to 60fps so the frame drops from split screen would've broken the game, hopefully they tweak the engine to allow frame drops to please the people who want couch coop and mp.

Also, every halo game has beautiful environments that could look even more spectacular if they target the Blur cut scenes for in game graphics.like everyone else said leave the 4k to games that are easy to make photorealistic like racing and sports or small indies that have a certain style that doesn't require all the power like Zelda botw, but I don't want to just imagine what halo 6 could've looked like if they targeted 1440p and went crazy with the effects.

MS has fallen victim to the fanboy wars (or shall I say Phil Spencer has)

Look what he's done while 2yrs on the job.

1.) Has purchased a quite a few new IP (rather they are made by 3rd party studios as well, MS keeping IP's now)

2.) Trying to put the "Xbox lacks power" argument to bed, by announcing Scorpio 18months early (which I wouldnt have done. showed hand too soon)

3.) Touts native 4K and VR, during announcement...

4) There will be a 1st part game in native 4K mode during E3 2016... Showing off Gears 4 in HDR mode, just to show off what the S model can, kinda leads to that.

5.) They will probably get CD-Projekt Red to show the Witcher 3 running at full 1080/60 native...
Or possibly struck some deal with EA to show Mass Effect running at 1080/60 on Scorpio,...

That's my point. 4k in effect is the equivalent to antialiasing but uses FAR more power. It makes more sense to use AA than to use 4K, especially at this point in time.

If a single GTX 1080p could easily do 4k/60 at high/ultra then you wouldn't need two. In any event, the GPU in the Scorpio is likely some variant of RX480 so there's no way.

@mochachino That is witcher with aa,gameworks on.if i tuen them off+foliage to high,+20-25 fps.Consoles simply wont do 4k because the cpu is very low clocked and its cores are weak.Tested 120 games since i got them last week and play all of them 4k/60 fps ultra.
