Showing any woman is sexism now. Unless she's of some sort of LGBT variant, or fully clothed, plain looking, and never once has to address a male in the game....in which case it's progressive and representative of real women. A moderate level of attractiveness is afforded to women who can kill men while being a b*tch about it though, or they have an unnatural hair color on a thinning ill-kept mane....unless it's from Japan, in which case it's automatically sexist.

More seriously though, no it's not sexism. Sexism is the act of discriminating against someone based on their gender. Unless CDPR is not hiring women due to their gender, or their games are being restricted to only males playing or it's making it harder for women to enjoy the game in general, it's not sexist, and the Chinese Room devs are just moronic self-righteous blowhards who try to appear progressive by lobbing accusations at a company that has done nothing to publicly express any sort of sexism. CDPR red is about their fans, and their customers. I doubt they care if their customers are men or women, other than for the purposes of determining their target audience. The chinese room panders to a sub group of the gaming community which seems more about hating everything about gaming, gamers in general, and those that make it their mission to change things which don't appeal to them. As such, they say stupid stuff like this, and their fans eat it up. It works better for them since they lack a lot of talent for making actual good games, but their position on certain issues makes some people believe that their games are good because of some sort of connection their "fans" have to the devs themselves.

I wouldn't worry about it. People talk a lot, and play up a mentality of superiority on these issues, but in the real world, they realize most people don't want to listen. Safe spaces only last for so long before people grow bored and seek out meaningful relations with people who have a mind beyond the mundane. As a species, should these people actually wish to procreate, they will still find the best suited match...or pay for some test tubes.

The rest of the world rolls their eyes, gets drunk, and wakes up in the morning next to people who's names they can't remember, and the majority of women out there still look for a traditional, meaningful relationship based on typical social norms, and not high minded social rhetoric which doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

I have a small theory, that the rise and/or stagnation of obesity is related to the active portrayal of "plus sizes" in media. It's like saying it's the normal thing to be "plus size."

It's called 'development choice', CD projekt Red have a choice, or for a better word, a right to make whatever they like. If you don't like it then leave people to make their own choices and make your own videogame.

It's also cheap practice to pander to a group of people by throwing out accusatory comments against a developer which has shown no signs of sexism. It's cheap tactics to gain attention with no real work or thought put into it.

If they have some kind of information that actually does show CDPR is sexist, bring that up. Otherwise, using the word sexist or sexism wrong to gain attention from a group of people who will respect their mediocre games based on their ideals instead of the actual quality of their work, is just wrong and slanderous.

At most, CDPR panders to a group of gamers who like nudity and sex, or at least aren't offended by it. They themselves have done nothing sexist, and their games are able to be played by all regardless of gender.

Heck, my fiancee is more a feminist than any of these SJW twats. Her entire career is centered around actually helping women who face real sexism or oppression. Her favorite games have been those niche Japanese titles like Criminal girls or Hyperdimension Neptunia.

Her general thinking is that none of this stuff actually makes a difference on perception, and makes even less difference on actual actions because societal norms keep people in check most of the time, and people don't act like a**holes on a daily basis unless they actually are one. At best it can eventually cause a shift in thinking to change how people view women, but she also believes that media in general has emasculated men more over the last decade than games have objectified women since their inception.

So take that for what it's worth from the mind of an actual effective feminist who doesn't need to play the victim card to make a difference, and she's won more awards and notoriety for her work than all the SJW have put together, all while making an actual difference in real women's lives and earning a mere fraction of what Sarkeesian got to make a video series, much less a self serving book on influential women. Funny thing is, if she went online to Kickstart some program to help actual women, no one would pay her any attention, and the likelihood is is that given how defensive everyone has gotten from all this, might even just be seen as someone who is trying to capitalize on a hot button issue.

She's already said that she sees people taking her work less seriously, and consider her some sort of over-zelous feminist because that's what feminism is known for nowadays. I would disagree. I would say at times the series is a tad bit sexist with an understanding of the first game that when you have sex with a character you got some sort of card as a trophy.

I can see how somebody might see this as objectifying. To literally get rewarded with such a thing it is very much a basic concept of sexism and objectification.

It really wasn't that great of a game. Good premise, and lots of potential, but the game play was kind of boring, and the "story" was pretty weak. Was made as a game to try and deliver an experience, and just seemed too pretentious to actually do so.

Really a shame, I was kind of looking forward to it.

But it isn't sexist at all. It's a game aimed at male players, giving them what they want. A masculine protagonist and scantily clad women. This is no more sexist than a homosexual man refusing to have sex with women is sexist. If *not* being bisexual is sexist, then 97% of us are sexist, and the word loses all meaning. It's a game, and one which tries to appeal the the fantasies of an adult male. There are dating sims out there aimed specifically at women, and they appeal to their fantasies - go check them out on Steam or the iOS! There are even Skyrim mods made by women for women which give male romance paths; some are bit more risqué (objectification? Hardly). When more women play games (and nowhere near as many do as the misleading data would show), they will get bigger-budget products aimed directly at them, whatever their fantasies may be (not what feminists tell them they should be, but what they actually are).

Implying that there is something wrong with men for having fantasies is intolerant and hateful. The Chinese Room have now tarred their reputation with bigotry for nothing.

Yeah, it's cool to defend the games that everyone likes. You're only allowed to be all uppity about games that are niche or have some sort of divisiveness to them....like console exclusives for instance. Only other games that are fair to criticize are those called out by the Sarkeesinites.

It's really kind of screwed up just how controlling neogaf has become. Back in the day...maybe 2-3 years ago, that control was just about people being respectful and not BS'ing. Although there was some console preference which kept people out. How a site that likes to ban people so much can be successful is beyond me....although it got successful long before they did stuff like that, so their diligence in verifying certain people was actually quite nice. Now they just abuse what power they think they have, which has only paved the way for reddit to actually become a better site, whereas Neogaf is mostly a joke when it comes to discussing anything beyond what the mods want discussed.
