Samuel L. Jackson Slams A.O. Scott on Twitter for Negative 'Avengers' Review

THR Heat Vision:
The actor, who plays S.H.I.E.L.D. leader Nick Fury in the Marvel film, was angered over the NY Times critic's assessment of the movie.

It's Nick Fury's job to assemble the Avengers, and now he's defending them, too.

Samuel L. Jackson, who stars as the tough, eye-patched S.H.I.E.L.D. commander in the upcoming Marvel superhero epic, dispatched a tweet that hit hard at New York Times film critic A.O. Scott, who gave the film a poor grade in his review.

just watched it, fantastic, fun, and funny, great script great action great acting, never a dull moment. 2.20 hours felt like 5 minutes

and surprisingly very faithful to the original avengers story, and every character gets the spotlight.

Mark Ruffalo is the best Banner/Hulk, you feel the monster in their all the time, their needs to be a Hulk vs Leader movie

Wouldn't want to mess with a guy who has his own song

Seriously though. The critic is open to his own opinion. Might be completely against what everyone else is saying. Personally I wouldn't say "The Avengers is hardly worth raging about" because I thought it was very good (surprisingly good)

Have to agree. I wasn't that excited to see The Avengers in the first place. I didn't even know it was already showing. I went to see it only because an old friend (a big Iron Man fan) came to town for a visit.

Glad I did see it. The most enjoyable and satisfying movie experience I ever had.

(Minor point : It still made me wonder though that the SHIELD's huge flying carrier didn't offer any significant backup to the Avengers. I did see a couple of National Guards do some fighting but an ultra carrier worth of advanced planes -actually re-painted training jets-and troops just sits there...doing nothing).

Just saw it....it was awesome!

Fairly petty on Jackson's part, the man has taken a beating from critics before on the Star Wars prequels so one critic here is hardly worth moaning about.

Baka-akaB4372d ago

The petty part is when critics can't taste their own medecine and goes all "heyyy its my opinion , it's my right!" .

Well like Jackson "subtly" says , it works both ways . People can have opinions about writers too .

I stand by him here. I'm so sick of these "big wig" reviewers constantly bashing anything that gets hyped or popular. I'm glad he attacked them, it puts them in their place.
